gour Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Hi! With the help of the stuff here, I decided to take a Lanparty UT Nforce 250GB board. Now I need some piece of advice regarding the recommended brand(s) for the RAM At the moment there are no OCZ,BUFFALO,MUSCHKIN sticks Besides different 'brand-name' sticks, I can get the following: G.E.I.L DDR400 (value series, CAS 2.5 6-3-3 2T) 512MB stick $118 KINGMAX DDR400 512MB stick $120 KINGMAX HardCore DDR466 512MB stick $124 KINGMAX HardCore DDR500 512MB stick $140 Corsair DDR400 CMX512A-3200C2 (black series) 512MB stick $168 Corsair DDR400 CMX512A-3200XL (black series) 512MB stick $211 :shake: TwinMOS 2 x 512 MB Dual Channel DDR400 $227 I've heard that performance of KINGMAX is always under declaration, for Geil I do not know and Corsair costs a fortune. However, I'm also aware that with bad memory there won't be plenty of opportunities to do some overcloking, so pls. throw some advice what is some decent memory enabling to oc the DFI board with 3000+? I plan to buy 1GB now with the possibility to upgrade sometime in the future when the need arrives since DFI board should still perform nicely with 3 sticks. In a nearby country (Slovenia) I see there are some OCZ sticks (OCZ400512PH & OCZ4001024PF - performance series) available. RGone Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 gour for your good manners and good sense with a new post showing more of what you 'can' choose from! A no BS post by a user of MSI NF3 and the DFI UT 250gb... Paying close attention you will notice he had phenomenal success with some Geil memory which was almost always a 94%failure on the DFI NF2 rocket sisters. It is higher PC rated than your DDR400 listed but I wanted you to see that in your overseas condition from my locale that the right Geil sticks that tend cheaper your area> might in fact be your better bet. That high speed Geil was smoking for that user and the price is way more than reasonable where I live and in fact so reasonable that IF I had to purchase memory> I myself might well try it for price alone and just see. Corsair to me is overpriced at every event. Some Kingmax has had success but I have not 'noted' down the ones that they were. PC4400 A-data Viesta should do well and so too Gskill but I doubt you can get the Gskill. So there is the best most economical and perhaps available roundup I can find you so far. Please do not skimp on the power supply. Sincerely, RGone...
zaubara Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Hey there! I got a pair of Corsair DDR400 CMX512A-3200C2(PT actually ) in my DFI and they run stable up to 255MHz after a short burn-in at [email protected]! But if you want tighter timings (like 2.0-2-2-11) you better take different memory. At this timings, I can get them to 210MHz, but no more :/

That would be the right choice, isn't it? Until I finish with the investigation, I won't consider other choices Sincerely, Gour

mrlobber Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Try out Gstill DDR550 with Samsung TCCD chips, available directly from www.gskill.com, a 1 Gb kit costs less than $300. Some people are getting rave about it. But in general, just about any TCCD based memory would be quite good.
