dagoof Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 A review of the Artic Cooling 4 states that "With the rather poor layout of the MSI K8N Neo Platinum the plastic housing of the Silencer comes in contact with the north bridge heat sink and will not allow the card to seat properly into the AGP slot." If I'm not incorrect, the NB heatsink on the MSI is in the same general location as on the LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb. Would anyone happen to know if this would hinder the Artic Cooling hsf. If so, could you please recommend me a good heatsink for it. Many thanks! sources: http://thecrucible.ca/reviews/nv5_ati4/performance.htm
2dogs Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 I had a K8N and I used a Silencer on my 9800pro on it. I am using it now on my lan nf3 250. What kind of hsf are you using?
dagoof Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 if you're talking about my NB chipset, My LP is in the mail, ordered it yesterday, but I was either planning on using stock or just mounting a small active heatsink instead And if you're talking about my Video card, it's on stock right now, But the Artic VGA Cooler 4 is in the mail as well. ShRoOmAlIsTiC Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 I think stock heatsink on the chipset is low profile enough to work with the ati silencer 4 Im running a vantec ice berge on m chipset and ati silencer 4 on x800. my card doesnt fully lock in but it still works fine. dagoof Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Thank you for the timely and helpful response If problems arise, I'll cut off a part of the plasic on the VGA hsf or something.
mrRusty Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I have a Hightech X800 XT which has stock Artic Cooling and it's no problem....
HermS Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 It just fits but can be tricky to unclip the card should you need to remove it, it is possible though.

Yup, I don't like the AGP slot clip on this board at all.

tortie Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Originally posted by HermS I was considering cutting that little bleeder off. My Silencer in on the way to me too and I was thinking of doing the same thing myself as my old board didnt have any AGP lock at all. I think it would be extremely hard to remove the Video Card with the AGP lock from the board if the Silencer is installed to the card.
