RGone Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 good show man. I do hear you about the 'sealing' her up. Hehehehehe. Ok couple of things for you to chew on. If you do not upgrade but run the current computer for another 6-7 months you really should do one of two things. 1. Get bios savior and flash it correctly and leave it in the case for safety sake. We can spend jillions on cpu's and video and memory to clock the pants off but nothing for an NF2 safety net. I have bios savior from one of my NF2's in the UT250gb right now. 2. Email me and I will give you directions to get that bios chip you fear is dead> reflashed and can have it for a spare. Fortune says you will need either it or bios savior in the future as your reluctance to tune is overwhelmed by the lure. HEhehehehehehehehe. Sincerely, RGone... :shake:
psychobob Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 <------Dumbass For starters...I just realized that when I tried hotflashing the old bios chip, the reason why it didn't work is because I used the flash that I had downloaded for my SOYO mobo...needless to say, I think I'm going to try hotflashing that again. If it doesn't work the second time, then I'll e-mail you RGone. And as far the pic from Angry, I have the 2100 chip in the comp that I'm sending this message from, so once again I'm not possitve, but I'd be willing to bet that it's the same chip. The only real thing I know is that I was running it at 13x166 at 1.75v completely stable and I was getting temps of like 35 degrees idle and 41 degrees full load I'm pretty sure that I could have taken it higher, but I'm just not comfortable going much higher over 1.8v. I had it post at 166x14 on 1.8, but I was having stability issues, which means I either needed 1.85 or that I just wasn't able to go much higher. I was only using 2700 ram, so I didn't want to trying going over 166. Of course, I now have 2 512 sticks of 3200 ram running in dual (tested that before I shut it back down), so I'm in a whole new playing field now. psychobob Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 This is completely off topic for the DFI world, I was just hoping that someone could help me out with a simpler problem now. I booted up Windows to a message that told me I needed to reactivate Windows because my hardware had "changed dramatically since Windows XP was first installed." Problem is, my cable internet connection wouldn't work because I run what I call a "Hand Router." I have three computers, I keep the internet hooked up to one most of the time, and whenever I need to use it on another one, I just swap the lan cable to whatever computer I want to use it on by hand, because I have to reset the IP address whenever I use it on another computer. Problem is, that Windows was booting to that screen, so it wouldn't let me change the IP address. I reinstalled Windows XP, and that solved the IP swapping problem. Next problem: when my DFI board was down, I bought a new mobo and was testing some of the components on there. I was using my copy of XP on there so that I could make sure that it wasn't driver issues that caused the crash. I activated it on there and it didn't dawn on me that I'd done a bad thing till I get the error on my DFI system telling me that the CD Key had been activated on another computer and I need to call custer service. Has anybody had an issue like this where you have to call customer service to get the CD Key reset? I'm just kind of worried that they might tell me that I'm out of luck and have to buy another CD Key. I plan on buying another operating system for that computer, but I was hoping to either run Linux or maybe XP home on it. Depending on how much grief I get, I may end up running my expensive operating system on a crappy computer and use my gaming system for everyday use. Poisonsnak Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 I had to call them once for a similar reason. Even if you keep your hardware the same if you reinstall quite often you will get a message "this product key has been used too many times". I phoned them, the guy said "how many computers is this installed on" I said "one" he gave me my code to punch in. Additionally he updated their 'database' or whatever and I have reinstalled a half dozen times since with no issues. I've had my key since Oct 2001 (wow 3 years!) so it has seen a fair bit of use and a lot of different hardware in my computer hehe. psychobob Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Hmm...your experience sounds painless...I hope mine will be. I just figure that with my luck, they'll try to slap a copyright infringement lawsuit on me for something I didn't do.
