What can I expect from this system

Recommended Posts

Just ordered it, parts are on the way...

what's better? ? use the RAM multiplier and keep it around 200 - 220 mhz and the timings at 2-2-2-5? or loosen it up and go to 240 or so?

how far can the CPU get upto? I got a 3000+ I hear that cooler isn't the best...

and how would I use the HTT multiplier? is that just PCI bus, that should sit at 133 mhz? or am i way off on this...

I plan on being stock seetings for about 2 months, then would like to tweak it out..

thanks in advance!!!!

:D ...you have two months to read and learn as each board is unto its' own and no two setups really perform the same. Keep reading and start tweaking and record your own presonal results and then you know your board and not the 'other' persons board. I got tired of the 'only' insight into bios settings being the fine starting point that jess1313 has so finely done. SO I did my own research and resetting over the course of a 3 1/2 hour period and 75 to 100 BSOD's on an untweaked unsoftwared loading of WinXP and my settings did NOT follow along with his but 'now' I know my board and how it acts and do not have to depend on the settings that worked for his and not mine.

DIY is the order of the day. And patience not haste and frenzy is the order of the day as well.

Sincerely, RGone...

As Rgone stated this is trial & error to get these anwers, you just have to do both & run test to see which one will perform best for your setup.

Here again it depends on your hardware, what ever you CPU is able to do this board has the power to push it to its highest limits.Heatsink is soso, it will get you by but it will hold you back on your overclock. The SLK 948U buy thermalright seem to be the hot ticket, also XP90 & XP120 are showing good results to & there may be others aswell.

HTT is your bus Divided buy its own Multiplier, ( 200 bus x 2,2.5,3,4,5) depending on which one you chose. HTT speed on the chipset is rated at 1000mhz(5x200). When overclocking for example if you where running a 250HTT bus then a 3 or 4 multiplier whould be best choice.(3x250 = 750mhz) (4x250 = 1000mhz). Stability would deside on which would work best.

Thiss is the bus between you CPU & chipset. Your ram is not on this bus.

You will have a lot of reading & learning, we can tell this just be your post. But it is the thrill of the hunt that makes the prize of your success fell so good.

This board has many option & for the average user it will try your skills to the limits. Get ready for some frutration & learning. But when you get there you will have one rockin system.

Remember, take things one step at a time and always test for stability & performance with each ajustment you do.

Getting your ram setup will be the major accomplishment & will take some work to fine what your sticks are able to achive.

p4 3.2Ghz still got a lot of punch...ive got a 3.4Ghz P4 Northwood on a LanParty 875B and getting ready to build an 875P-T which has same great 875 chipset, but with a socket775 Prescott 2.8 (1MB L2)

HT is good stuff

but so is 64

mem bandwidth plus pure ghz is good stuff

but so is better fpu for gaming

its a toss up

but you'll like it
