CPU Core voltage ???

I was wondering if anyone knows, is there a core voltage that shouldn't be exceeded reguardless of temps. Right now on my AN7 motherboard I am at 2.125 Vcore and temp are well within limits but is there a point where the core will fry even if temps are kept cool enough. I am getting a bit scared of frying my processor. I have never been this high with Vcore before. Thanks for any input you all my have!

i see that your are using an alx-800, in your sig, is this correct?

what kink of temps are you getting at 2.125 vcore, i must say that usually, even for the best air cooling, i think it is best not to exeed 2.0vcore, and at that much Vcore, it is best to keep temps at, or below 50c.:D

if you were using water cooling, or PhaseChange cooling, this much Vcore might be Ok, but IMHO man, i really dont think this much Vcore should be used for Air cooling

Yea, back when i used aircooling i never went over 1.85-1.9vcore

But if the temps are stable and not over 45* i would say its ok.

Cus whit aircooling the temps can rise pretty fast.

The rig I was asking about is not the one listed in my sig. It is my AN7 which is water cooled. At 2.125 my temps are at about 45 c. I don't think I will try to go any higher. I think it may be time to go to a mobile processor so I can get the same speeds with less Vcore and of course lower temps. I guess I am undecided weather to go with a mobile on that rig or go with the new DFI Nforce3 and an A64 processor of some type. I don't know much about the A64's yet as far as which procs are getting the best overclocking for the $. Thanks for the input all!

OK, you had me worried there for a min:shake: , but for water cooling i dont think you would cause any damage at that vcore although i woudl be hesatent to go any higher.

well it just HMO, but if you can afford it, i would go with the NF3 Dfi rig, i have both a xp rigs and a64 rigs(two of each), and the a64, if it within your price range, is the way to go.

as for a CPU, i would go with a 3200 DTR, but you must make sure its a CG rev, all CG's have a model # than ends in AR, and all CO's(no good) end in AP. here is a link to my CPU of Choice...

because DTR's dont have IHS's like other A64, you will have to very picky about your cooling solution, the only things that seem to work well with DTR'/mobiles is the SLK-948u, or a bolt on water block

if you have an a64 Q's, just post here or PM me:)
