matchstickrobot Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Hi guys, Really happy with this new setup! Everything is working great EXCEPT for the small niggle of the center speaker not working using onboard sound. The speakers are Creative Inspire 5100's. I've got 5.1 selected in the nvidia control panel and the other 4 speakers+subwoofer work great. The speaker definatly is not blown or anything and i have the following cable setup: Anyone got any ideas?? Thankyou!
Angry_Games Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 in the NV control panel you have used the speaker wizard and made sure all are correct, then went into the Windows Control Panel - Sounds & Audio Devices and checked your settings there? i think my Creative 5.1's are 5100's too...i have a 22 pound cat sitting on me at the moment so i can't get down and check...but I will as soon as I can muster the strength to throw his fat butt off me hehe Jackie says "if you sit here, I will kill you!" matchstickrobot Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 ehehe hooray for fatcats as for the problem, yes both are set to 5.1 mode. The strange thing is, on the nvidia speaker wizard the following happens: Left Front: No sound Right Front: No sound Center Speaker: Sound (albiet a high pitched whine) Left Rear: Sound (staticy white noise) Right Rear: Sound (more staticy white noise) Subwoofer: Sound But in winamp and WMP10 i get all the speakers+subwoofer working WITHOUT the center channel. God knows what's going on :/
alex1971 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I said before more than once .... NV Drivers are buggy with this board... Try Realtek Drivers 3.62.....

Angry_Games Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 thats odd because in Winamp 5.05 i cannot get the surround speakers to work...WMP10 no problem, they all work =/ i know its dumb but make sure all your speaker connections are in securely (including those to your speakers/subwoofer, not just the I/O panel on the board). and as Alex says...maybe try the drivers...in fact, in the 10/05 w/4.66 bios thread that is stickied at the top, there are some drivers Oskar gave me to give to you guys... I had exactly the same Problems...exactly !! It was the first time i tried to use analog Output.. i thougt i become crazy... Digital Input (SPDIF IN) was also NOT possible ! But while testing with the speaker wizard i could hear the digital input.. Only while using the wizard....crazy..... Now with realtek 3.62 the 5.1 Analog Output runs perfect. AND my SPDIF IN runs..... but to hear only at Analog Output... Not possible to loop "Spdif IN" to "SPDIF OUT". With Realtek 3.64 ! i have NO Digital Out for normal stereo.. (winamp e.g.) with 3.62 its OK..... GRRRRRR ..... What i need in Realtek application is the "Digitize Digital Input" Setting like in NV-Mixer.... But NV-Mixer doesn't run correctly.......
matchstickrobot Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Thanks for all the help so far guys! I downloaded these drivers: http://www.angrygames.com/files/nForce_CK8S_Audio_4.54.zip and when installed they enabled the left+right+front+rear speakers in the Nvidia speaker wizard but that high pitched continuous squeak still came out of the centre speaker. And again, no centre speaker playing in winamp. After trying the above I installed the Realtek Drivers v3.64 and all the speakers work in winamp and WMP10 playing mp3s/videos etc BUT in games ONLY the centre channel works. (I tested on UT2004, counterstrike: source and doom3). When i was using the nvidia driver the 4 speakers and subwoofer worked but not the centre. Bizarre! CrazyMAC Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 I also have the same sort of problem but with 7.1 Center and middle left and right speakers do not work. In the NVMixer i get the high pitch sound from the center, middle left and right do not work. Did anyone find a fix for this?...or would it be easier to just buy a "Audigy 2 ZS" as im about to cry with trying to work this out D=~
Zelig Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 You all realize that music is only stereo, right? Does the center channel play in 5.1 games, or during DVD movies? If so, it's likely just a problem with the upmixing somewhere...
CrazyMAC Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 yeah i understand a 2.1 film wont play right on 7.1 speakers but you can force it out.....ok really bad example but i understand me =P it happens when i do the testing thing going around each the speakers playing white noise, thats when i get the problem and also when it plays the little tune to pick how you want it encoded. changeing to new drivers the middle side speakers become the back speakers and the front speakers don't work and then all gets abit confusing =|
