there is a manual for the board to download but I am hesitant to even use that as a basis as things could change rapidly from now until the time the boards actually make it out of the factory and show up on our shores (its happened before lol).

Thanks. Guess, we'll know in a few days. :)

I read on another forum that BigToe and OPP both had

used the OCZ Vdimm Booster on their DFI NF3 for benching.

Both running OCZ EB stuff.

Its easy to kill an A64 CPU with crazy Vdimm mods because

the memory controller is embedded into the chip. And it

will go South.

I've been dinging around with an A64 system for 2/3 months

using an AN50R and a 3400+ CH. It's all right I guess

if a guy is into mainly graphics and games. The A64 systems

will process some data with the HT bus.

The thing I have against the AN50R is the HT bus limit is X3 as

X4 doesn't work on the nForce 150. So X3 = 600.

Looks like this new DFI 250 can go 5X with HT (1000).

It only takes about 5 minutes to overclock one of these to its

max. Default and lower multi's (with the right BIOS) and FSB.

The Alpha Pal 8150 is an excellent heatsink for the A64. The

chip has a "can" on top of the core-die ala the "old" K6-2 CPU.

If a guy wants to dis-assemble things to change the CPU be

slow and easy when removing the heatsink. The CPU will

remain "stuck" to the bottom of the heatsink and you can rip

the CPU up out of the ZIFF socket. And that's without having

the socket lever unlatched. Ouch. hehehe.

So if a guy is into this stuff for the "fun" of overclocking

and thrashing the S462 is still the way to go.

When the ClawHammer hit the streets an overclock of 50-100

MHZ was the norm. I got lucky and got 200MHZ overclock on

the 3400+. This is on air systems.

The nForce 150 series loves BH-5 memory........

I'm gonna give this DFI 250 a shot with a 3700+ 1MB L2 chip

and see where it takes me.

Need to find an A64 Kit for a Prommy. Got a new DD waterblock

to get me by for awhile.

I've only dealt with GameVE once. We got cross-wise with

each other. They were selling 2600+ Mobile chips with a

certain stepping (0348?). So placed an order and received a

chip with some weird stepping no one had ever heard of before. Called 'em a couple times and finally spoke to an English

speaking person. Problem resolved.
