mongoled Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Dont know if anybody has seen this, I spotted it over at nforceshq, http://www.transformerman1.plus.com/LtcyCfg.zip member fr33k posted this tidbit. Something not quite right to me, but it shows my ATI card has having two diff latencies, one for the VGA and one for the display controller. Wonder what other peeps think of this
uwackme Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Waitor... there's a BUG in my soup!!!!! Remember that ATI cards have TWO seperate controllers... Primary/Secondary. This shows me the bios is only setting the PRIMARY correctly... Im on 6/19... OH OH!!!!! My Primary bus latemcy is 255, my secondary is 32!!!! Not an issue for me, but some with dual monitors could have issues they never realized were even on the list. Spread the word. Nice little tool, good find!! SAE Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Funny tool indeed. Does it only set the devices' latencies or these of the buses as well!?

cantankerous Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 hmmm I checked this as well and mine came up as 255/32 however I set the agp latency in the bios to 128. Is there something I am missing? Anyone found any increased scores, mainly with the writes on the SIL controller from raising the latency on that?
SAE Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Guys... the tool is for setting the devices's latencies, not the boards'... But for me it helps big time with my sounddrops...! Great, the latency of the audigy was only set to 32clk, I set it to 128 and now no drops in Far Cry!!! Great. I additionally upped the SB's latency for pci bus to 64 now to allow the bus a lil more time. Great, I am gaming Far Cry at 260x12
HUH Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 does changing this agp setting improves oc'ing?

I don't think if you cut away some latency from the vid card... you'd make it very unhappy! That's only latencies of the devices, not the buses!!! And higher than 255 is not possible.
