ringo598 Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Hello, I can't get the two sticks of my PC3200 400mhz 512x2 ram to function in dual channel, I have tried having them in slots 1 and 3(both in orange slots) and slots 2 and 3, (one of each colour) and it stills says single channel dynamic mode and performance tech enabled on startup, am I doing something wrong? I am guessing there is a bios setting I am missing?
Angry_Games Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 what bios are you using? have you cleared cmos? are you sure your sticks will function in dual-channel correctly?

ringo598 Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 04/09/2004 is the bios date, does that help....what slots should I have the two sticks of ram in for dual channel, I will put them in the two orange slots. Now, both are 3200 400mhz 512's. One is kingston value select, the other is hyundia brand, whould that effect it any? Thanks
Algore Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Most memory must have identical sticks in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 to function in Dual Channel mode. Very few will let you mix and match like you are trying to do. Hope that helps.
Angry_Games Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 your two sticks are not going to work in dual channel together
autoMATTic Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I have 2x256 mb sticks ddr400, one is a twinmos and I think the other is by simpletech and they work fine in dual channel.
ringo598 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 oh well, how much of a performance losss am I looking at?
ringo598 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 and if I went and bought a stick of lets, say the kingston value select, and took out the hyundai stuff, then would dual channel work?
Angry_Games Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 p4 = a lot of performance is centered around its true dual-channel architecture 2 matching sticks (same brand, same speed, same SPD) should work no problem. make sure you have latest bios from the site, and sticks are in same-colored slots (1+3, 2+4)
ringo598 Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 okay, sweet, that works, so even though the sticks arn't this "registered duel kit stuff" I can still get dual channel? Great!
