No Post Blank Screen Caused By User Error!

Recommended Posts

Just couldn't believe it was happening. Total blank screen after applying New coating of ceramique to my 2600mobile in the LPB. War Mod, L12, and 6/19 all in place and nothing!

After 10 hours of clearing CMOS, pulling battery, replacing battery, removing 100/133 jumper and replacing memory it was still a no go. How in the world could I have dorked the board? Even had someone else go over each and every connection. Was ready to break out the costumes and start the dance ritual. Grapped one of the brand spankin new elts_drac spare bios chips and hot flashed on the Infinity.

When I went to put it in the I realized I did not have the monitor cable plugged into the LPB. It was plugged into a different PC sitting right next to it.. hehehehe. What a friggin n00b move. hehehe. So dang stupid.

Anyone care to share a similar experience so I don't feel like an idiot all weekend?:D

Hehehehe....

Don't get me started on the moves I've made.

Ever get up (sleepy) on Sunday morning and plug in

a stick RAM end for end backwards? It can be done.

God is my witness.

There are more.

Pops.

Type and type and type and nothing, nada, zilch and say now what in hale is wrong with this brand me @ss new keyboard. It ain't 4 days old. Raggedly POS.

Right! Type on the keyboard attached to the computer I want to use and all is again ok with the raggedy POS. Hehehehehehehe.

So newbness is not the private territory of the newbs alone. HEhehehehehehehehe.

I was getting reboots and 3dmark crashes , tried for weeks to fix..Then one day I noticed I hooked up my tornado and my 120mm side fan to the same power plug as my 9800... I though it was dumb move on my part cuz ive read not to do that many times.. Ive also been known to start computer without cmos battery also.

... too many late nights tweaking.. its killing brain cells.. ;)

Hey... similar thing happened to me when setting up some puters at the same time (for a friend, my internet rig and benching system). I only had two display though, so I was always switching displays. So I connected the display to one pc, the key board to another and switched on the third... LOL

First... there was nothing on the screen (how should there... ). So I hit reset on the rig I powered on. Still nothing. humm. What's up there? Ahhh, after the second reset I noticed I connected the display to the wrong rig...

Okay. Plugged the plug into the right rig. Powered on again... phew. There it posts. Okay. Trying to get into bios again. No reaction at all. Reset. Again - no reaction. Erm... okay, keyboard must be dead! So I rechecked all the connections and finally noticed I not only did connect the display wrong but also the keyboard... too much rigs in one room for my tastes ;) :shake:

hehehe. ROTFLMAO.

Man you guys, what a bunch of n00bs. Talk about bone-head moves.

Next you'll be telling me about replacing your PSU cause you thought it was bad and in reality you had the switch on the back of the case switched to OFF.

Oh man, I wasn't gonna let that slip out. LOL

  • 1 month later...

Ok, here's a bonehead move, if I ever did one.

Got the LPB running sweet at 240x11 with 2x512 Mushkin BH-6 Special 2-2-2. Seems the processor is just a lil faster than it's sister in the HO. The LPB board has been super rugged and stood up to all types of S&M. My favorite sista.

Got HO#2 zipping along at 250x10 with 2x256 Mushkin Black Level II BH-5. But this 2600 is just a lil slower than the one in the LPB.

So genius that I am I decide to swap the memory. Just pull out the good stuff (BH-5) and put it in the other rig.

Load Optimized defaults?

Nah, we don't need no stinkin Optimized Defaults.

just swapping memory, no big deal.

Just put them in and fire up and man we got all the noises and sirens and 4 LEDs lit up on a permanent basis.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

Idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot.

The LPB sleeps with the fishes cause I am so friggin stupid. sigh!

Bios savior and three dif "genuwine elts_drac Brand winbond bios chips" give no joy. cmos clearing ain't helping and either are the other tricks. Extreme sadness, even begged and whimpered but the LEDs remain on at all times.

Getting the costumes from the dry cleaners and hope the new neighbors like bonfires.

Ok.. this is funny..

I have my HO and another backup computer which I use for browsing when I need peace and quiet.. this is a A7N8x with and old ati card in it.. I also use a KVM switch so I can go back and forth by tapping the CTRL key without having two keyboards and mice..

The other day I was getting ready to swap video drivers on my 6800 which is in the HO.. And I goto addremove and realize that it says I had ATI drivers installed.. I even went to device manage to check.. After some minuites of feeling really confused I forgot to switch to the HO.. LOL...

Ummm.. this is not the first time I went to do something to the HO and didnt switch to it.. hehe

edit..

Oh btw.. I hope you revive your board..

Hmm.. worst thing I be doin.... Ah...

Get my new AN7.

Take out mobo tray.

Hook everything up, video, cpu, the works.

Stick mobo in case.

Grab SLK to fit it in..

NO BACKPLATE!

... lol...

Lets see.. my cousin had me go all the way to her house (5 min away) because they spent 2 hours trying to get their sound to work.

I go, look at the screen, and its muted.

This has happened about 5 times, with different people. :shake:

All right I guess I'll add to this trainwreck!! I built a computer for my Boss (about 9 months ago) and he wanted to keep the price cheap by keeping a lot of his own parts. (Bad Idea) Well to make a long story short he wanted to save his case which was like a micro size and his CPU kept overheating because the power supply was right on top of the CPU fan. I lowered the clock from 133 fsb to 100 fsb and lowered his core voltage. And all was well........Got it back last week because his old CD drive crapped out and could not figure out for the life of me why the dang thing was only running at 1.0ghz. (I got a bigger case to put it in) I was trying all the bios settings that could have even remotely had anything to do with it. Was talking to a buddy of mine (after I gave it back still running at 1.0ghz) and he asks "hey did you change the onboard fsb jumper?" DOHT These dang jumperless moboards sho' is makin' me dumb!!!
