XP-M 2500 -> which board

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Because of obvious reasons (see signature) I'm want to get a new mobo. The DFIs (esp. Lanparty series) are wellknown for their OC Features, so I think I want one of those. But I want to continue to use my Zalman CNPS 7000. Does anyone know which boards support this cooler?

Thanks,

Chris

Not EXACTLY true.

I got a Lanparty B, but the Ultra Infinity are the same one, except color, UV stuff (witch I did NOT like anyway) and lots of extras (with I did not use anyway :D).

In order to install CNPS7000Cu on my Lanparty, I have to mod it a little. Two changes need to fit.

First is shortening the heatsink holder - othervise it hit the LPT port back. It's need to chop out the end of the holder, the hole that is used on P4 / AMD64 installation must go off.

Second is that on the left top hole (looking at the mobo from the oposite side of where the CPU socket are, usualy this is the bottom side in cases) are two chips from top/bottom that close to the hole, so not even the small foot Zalman screw holder for the CNPS7000 could fit. Of course, you get there the paper ilulating spacer and screw the thing - but this way you might kill the SMD thingies. So, use a file little (it's easy, the aluminium is so so soft...) on them and basicaly ange the top/bottom of the holder to about 45 degrees and almost to the hole - and then you are set.

5min work for me, maybe 15min for anyone other.

Flames must go to DFI for puting the SMD components so closely to the holes. This is the only one HW flaw of witch Im aware on these mobos.

Same issue with both boards as far as knocking an SMD

off the board while using the bolt pattern. These surface

mount transistors are very very small and can be damaged

without knowing what has happened.

Personally, I would not ask for the grief. There are too many

heatsinks available that use the socket lugs to secure and do

a fine job of cooling. There are even water blocks for water

cooling that use the socket lugs.

For air I prefer the trusty AX-7 and for water the DangerDen

SHD Maze 4. The modded Prommy I run is a different horse.

And, Welcome to DFI-Street

Pops.
