Infinity 875 Underrated?

Recommended Posts

I think so.

Good mobo, lots of Raid options. Quite a few Overclockers options.

2.9V Vdimm.

A few complaints. Undervolted Vcore. -> I guess I just have to increase voltage. Lack of Bios support. Last Bios was released 04/29/04.

well. I was wondering if there will be more bios' coming to increase performance? or OC performance? something like that.

I would be happy if I can use my P4-mobile heheh. Well I have tried it with the BSEL pin mod. Got it up to 250 FSB. I think it can go to 300 FSB though.

I think the Infinity 865pe revB is underated as well. These are superb overclocking boards, very stable and have plenty of features.

Who needs ultra violet orange and yellow pci and dimm slots!!

Had my board ajust over a week now, I am loving it!!

In my opinion, this is a huge negative for the AMD mobo's - not a positive. Many beta bios updates could very well indicate a board with lots of problems that need to be solved.

One could very logically conclude the lack of bios updates for the Infinity 875 indicates a stable trouble-free mobo. My Infinity 875 is certainly that way. The only shortcoming, which is very easy to overcome, is the undervolting of vcore. Just crank it up in the bios and everything is fine. IMO no bios update is required for such a trivial item.

gotta agree with Cit4444...the reason the Intel boards don't have the number of updates is simple...they dont need them.

Intel platforms are much more mature, stable, and higher performing than their AMD counterparts. The only time we need to really update the bios is for new cpu's, or certain specific issues that need to be addressed.

Actually I just realized there was a second problem.

The fans speed is measured incorrectly at startup. 11K? that's not right.

As for the undervoltage. I don't know if that is hardware or a bios issue. But that should be something that is researched and fixed.

Can you be a little less cryptic? Which fan? How measured? In bios? With Hardware Doctor? With Speedfan? What really is the problem? We'll try to help you if you give a little more info.

The CPU fan reads appear wrong at startup. It reads at 11K on startup. From the Post screen. I did say start up didn't I?

As for Bios support, I believe that DFI Intel boards may have a similar cold boot to the DFI AMD counterpart.

I had numerous problems installing my DFI board. I was not impressed with the install. Initially it wouldn't post no matter what I did, clearing CMOS with no Battery. Had to power off and on and eventually it worked.

Didn't like the fact that HD was set to CMS by default either. Hell of a time to figure that one out.

Not much help either from DFI support. 2 weeks to reply to my initial request with help on troubleshooting the board.

Can't help but resent DFI's commitment to their Intel support.

You have gone from an initial post where you said this board was underated to your last post bitching about the board. Time for me to turn this over to AG to handle before I lose my cool. For me, you seem to have an agenda I don't understand. Maybe Angry Games can understand what it is that you are asking?
