Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Alright, Ever since I overclocked at 200x11, my pc goes really sluggish. Now, even when I set everything back, it still runs sluggish, Like, lag in an online game...Jumpy and slow... I am thinking it has something to do with the memory, but I don't know for sure. Can you guys help me?
Cainfoo Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Hi Guy! Ihave recently been wondering the same thing. It seems like my computer doesn't run as smooth as it did at stock speeds. Everything benches fine, no lock ups or any other ill effects from overclocking. It just doesn't seem to have that smoothness it used to. I don't really know of any better way to describe it. For example when I open internet explorer or certain games, sometimes they open in a flash and sometimes there seems to be quite a hesitation before they open. I am curious to see what kind of feed back we get on this one. Kevin

RGone Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 come on guys, you have to be able to help! We really may not be able to help. Most of us that help do so from an experential background. Meaning we have 'been thru' that situation before and came out on the other side to either success or failure. Now I personally have 'never' experienced what you are seeing. Anything I would offer as a 'fix' would be an 'educated' guess from plain knowledge or pure guess-tomation. Only the two of you have 'claimed' to have such an experience and that is a small group of users compared to the number that come here and post with a complaint or problem; while seeking help. I have not seen this sort of problem posted in other words. You could have overclocked and corrupted a driver. You could have upped the clock and had problems and 'in returning' to what you thought were the original settings that worked> you mis-set one setting in trying to return to original. The 'what ifs' are many and varied and so are any possible cures. You need to load optimized defaults and then see if you can again make setup from square one to return to your former goodness. That is a start. You may wind up reloading the O/s if you corrupted a file. There is no easy answer for what might have gone wrong when you attempt to overclock. Certainly there is no 'one answer' to your problem. Sincerely, RGone...
elts_drac Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I would ask you if you have reinstalled windows at your OC'd speed and if it is still sluggish after a fresh install? That would tell you wether its a problem of windows running at that speed or wether in experimenting you screwed something up. Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Alright guys..... I reinstalled windows like 3 times since hehehe, but no luck. Emil Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 On the two occasions when I was definitely sure that my overclock seemed to be running slower of more slugishly..... it was most probably due to conflicting drivers/programs. My present NII mb is an Epox 8rda+ (still waiting for my Infinity to arrive?!?) which is also the gaming desktop of my three boys. They just load and load, game after game. And sometimes it is really palpably slower!!!! Solution ...... just erase the games, one by one until speed is regained !!! Just my simple way of looking at things !!!! phildapro Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 allright guys, i got a similar prob. Im ocd to 2.7 and got my ram at 1T timings with 2-2-2-5 but my pc is still sluggish i dont know why. I got a feelings its my hdd which is a few years old mabye lacking some technology or somthing but its stil 7200rpm anyway. I have my pc next to my mates quite often who runs a a 64 @ 2.2, with 512 ram and a Geforce 4. His pc is incredibly faster than mine in windows. Mine should be much faster but not sure why, we also have similar hdd space avaliable. His hdd is a 10,000 raptor but he sais this doesnt make a difference in windows anyway. Other anoying things, i have less running programs than him in windows but stil i have 225mb free and he has somthing like 370. bit weird really. Athlon 64 Newcastle 2400 @ 2.7 225x12 OCZ 3200 EL DDR @ 1t 2-2-2-5 220mhz Geforce 6800 standard fully unlocked (3dmrk 10290) 80gb Maxtor hdd Koolance water cooling system
TSuaVe Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 It's called spyware. You really should do something about it...
tatts Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 ^^ how can it be spyware if hes reinstalled windows 3 times its all trail and error really, no one can say they now what it is. try things like sp2004, occt or prime95 after youve overclocked to make sure its stable. try slackning your ddr timings or speeds slightly. try loading optimized defaults in the bios. try running memtest, maybe your hdd is faulty? you just gotta think of possible causes and find ways to elimanate each one.
