two left feet Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Hi Travis et al, Where to start ? I was looking for a relacement for my dead AN7. (nice board by the way) heard about the Lanparty, decided to join in. Sourced my new Lanparty Ultra B (CHina version) from Ebay in Germany back in March. 4 leds of death awaited me....well no RMA for those of us gamblers buying from less than honest sellers on Ebay. Travis suggested to get another Bios, this took some time, but eventually when it arrived with much farfare, still the 4LOD. Saw an interesting post some months ago about the resisters being damaged around the heatsink mounting holes. (hope the guy that designed that doesnt quit his day job ). Sure enough under the hard-to-remove rubber gunk was a broken resister. Saw an other interesting post, same problem, suggestion was to simply solder it closed. To simple you ask? Surely the guy who designed this (who has since been moved to marketing) had some purpose for such a resistor. Well after some very poor soldering work, ITs ALIVE!!! My girlfriend must have though I was having an esipode. She witnessed a non-alcohol-induced series of whoops and crys of "its alive!". After this I booted up, followed the 6/19 update instructions, loaded WinXP, RTFM and today am looking at 2.7 Ghz stable anyway you want. (seems to prefer 11.5 x 235 today). Now I am thinking about a Toaster, and how to set up my 2 x 256 Corsair XMS 3500 BH-5. Phylisophically though, I do enjoy the case. regards to all the posters and all the advise givers ("and the sisters") regs from Germany Andrew
RGone Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004  clapped and rejoiced at your persistence... No wait this is not a continuing 'saga' tale like AG started in off topic is it? Hehehehehe. Sincerely, RGone...
two left feet Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Now if only I can work out the memory settings, everything after 11, 2, 2, 2.0 is a little blurry around the edges.... I would love to hear what settings others are using with this Corsair XMS 3500 ver 1.1 though....
RGone Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004  hit rally don't matter sum much what you set them other settings to lessen you having sum trouble completeN 3dmark2k1 with the card at stock speeds. I just swapped back to AUTO all the way down the 'newer' settings after playing and posting sum settings fer the BH-5 stuff. Coupla other guys posted some in the forum here too; I think. Sincerely, RGone...
Angry_Games Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 w00t Andrew. Glad you got it up and running. btw, was that 'broken resistor' from a Thermalright original mounting plate?
two left feet Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 Angry, I think I must have broken the resister when I tried to lock down the posts for my CPU waterblock. I was trying to be really careful having read the FAQs, but for all I know the friendly chap on Ebay may have already buggered it for me. BTW: Prime wasnt happy with my premature 2.7, and has kicked me down to 2.5 (250 x 10). But do I look worried ? reg to all Andrew
