ringo598 Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Which slots on the LP pro 875b are used for dual channel? I can't remember but someone said 2 and 3 once I think. Could you use two sticks of ddr3200 400mhz that are made by different manufactueres? All you do is put them in the slots and they should automatically be detected by the bios I am thinking. pcworks Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 This is from setting up my Infinity 865pe board whicj is also dual channel. Stick the ram in either slots 1 and 3 or slots 2 and 4. When you boot up you should see a message on-screen confirming dual channel memory is in operation. Hope this helps Rob H
ringo598 Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 does anyone know if those are the same settings for the LP Pro 875b? If so I am going to switch them when I get the new heatsink.
pcworks Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Just had a look at the DFI website. It is even easier, just stick the ram in the two ram slots that are the SAME colour. My slots are black and blue. The black match up and so do the blue slots. I believe your slots are yellow and orange. Stick the ram in the Orange and you will all set for Dual channel operation. Just as a matter of interest, what temperature is your Prescott processor running at. Interested in IDLE speed and LOADED speeds, also what cooling do you have on the cpu. Thanks Rob H
ringo598 Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 okay, I am running at 45 idle, and 55 load according to MBM5, with the stock cooler and arctic silver 5. I am getting a thermal right sp-94 with a thermal take 80mm smart fan so I can over clock when the warrently expires. And as a final note, even though a lot of ppl are giving negative press to the prescott, I find it runs absolutely great for gaming and I know a lot of people will negatively compare it to the AMD, but my bro has a amd 64, and we have matched them up on similar rigs and while his does beat me on gaming, I beat him on multi tasking and applications, and according to many sites, the prescott overclocks better than the amd due to something about the long pipelines or something like that, many people are getting the 2.8e to over 3.5 with very good stability. pcworks Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I like my 2.4a Prescott, it blows my 2200mhz xp1700 in an Shuttle nforce2 away. I clock my 2.4a at 2.8ghz at 1.344v for day to day use, it will happily run at 3.4ghz at default volts but runs too hot on standard Intel cooler. When I get paid next I am going to get a Thermaltake sp94 and 92mm Tornado fan, that should sort the cooling out. Used to own an AMD 64 and Asus K8V combo, sold them though because I just didn't need the speed, this Prescott is nearly as fast and I love this DFI nobo, it feels very responsive and my Maxtor Sata drive feels very quick running off the ICH5 southbridge.
