Caspis Sinclair Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I haven't seen a post about this yet so I thought I'd ask. Does the default bios that the Ultra Infinity ships with recognise Mobile Athlon XP's? The DFI site doesn't seem to say so one way or another but I may just not be looking in the right place. I'm going to order the 45 Watt Mobile Athlon 2600+ and I was wondering if I have to plug in my old Duron 1300+ first to flash the bios and get the mobile recognised. If so... which bios in particular offer support? Thanks! (and I apologise if this is one of those questions that has a general faq explaining the answer to)
FDM Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Technically it won't be supported but it will work fine. No need to boot with the Duron first.

So it's really just a "cream of the crop" Athlon XP?
FDM Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Yep. You will have to stick the vcore/fsb/mutli in the bios yourself, as it most likely won't read it correctly. Original fsb is 133 and multi is 15. Vcore at defult you can use 1.45. If your cpu is like mine, throw in vcore of 1.5 and stick it at 200x11 and start ocing from there

I think I'll try 200x10 vcore 1.5 first just to be sure since my RAM isn't particularly impressive. I'll have to write down the numbers that appear on the stick so I can add them to my sig. I hope that my new "Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12" (I love how friggin' long that name is ) is up to the challenge. Would have liked to go with a higher-end heatsink but I've already overshot my budget by a bit.

Ironmahn Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 Caspis Sinclair, replying to your comment on the Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12. It is a good cooler; I have one on an EPoX KRA2+ running at 200x10 with v1.8 @ 102 fahrenheit.

I was going to replace it with a refurbished SLK 9000A (or at least I'm pretty sure that was the name) for almost the same price but I've never bought refurbished hardware before and moreover it didn't come with a fan. I can't seem to find any fans on NewEgg that are made for CPU's. Everything just says "case" under compatability.
