Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Alright guys, Sup all. I just built my pc about 3 months ago. I only spent like $850 or so, and I love it so far. Overclocks great. I am getting some Mushkin 512x2 lvl2 BH-5 in next week, so hopefully that will bring up the speed tremendously. Thing is, I am building a new pc for my friend. I found this amazing deal at this shop, cause I know a guy. I can get all this: AMD A64 3400+ 64 2x512 mushkin lv2 pc 3500 bh-5 msi K8T Neo-FIS2R western digital 120 soundblaster live audigy 2 ZS 9800XT TV LEADTEK/DELUXE TV2000XP TV/FM R LIAN LI pc-82 with window, new UV GREEN FANS, UV GREEN sleeves added 32x liteon burner thermaltake venus 12 heatsink For only $650!! THing is, I don't want to get rid of my old machine, cause I love it. Would this pc, w/o the memory, be THAT much faster than my old one? I am gonna take that memory and but it in my old one, so what do u guys think????
Oberon Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 That's an awesome deal, almost sounds too good to be true. Too bad it's only S754.
Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 s754? Whats wrong with that? They are going to maintain for a while, however I know the 964 or whatever it is, is going to become the high end......
Oberon Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Not anything particularly wrong with it, but the 3700+ (or at least I think that's it) is going to be the fastest CPU released for that platform, everything else is going to be socket 939. That and the 939 CPUs have both channels of their memory controller activated.
Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Ahh I see. Well I think what I am going to do is take the memory, sound card, tv-tuner, and half life 2 coupon, and sell the rest to my friend. All I really wanted was the memory anyways!
soundx98 Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 That is a stone cold steal. get back there right away and snap it up. right now, go, go, go. What kind of deal can we cut on the 9800XT? quickly now - go back,

Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 lol! Well, the price went up, but it is still only $980. So I am gonna get it, I mean, how can I not? Its BH5!!!!!!!
soundx98 Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 age and experience warns me that anytime there is a $330US/33% price increase on a deal, it's time to backup and recheck the information. You must positively identify the RAM. Can't have forum members getting bent over. Even if it's an HONEST mistake on someone's part. If it indeed is "memory of the gods" BH-5 - it will be stickered with DDR-3500 level II with module size 256MB/512MB directly under the word level. Heatspreaders are Black with silver clips. Got pics if you need em. CPU-Z should identify the DIMM modules as "Enhanced Memories DDR-SDRAM PC3500 - 512MB". CAS should be 2.0@217MHz (4.6ns) using AIDA32 or Everest 1.0. If any of the above are suspect, it prolly isn't what you think it is. After that. like ViperJohn said, just hope you got the good BH-5 vs the "last" of the BH-5. Remember that if either or both modules are out of spec you are NOT going to be getting BH-5 on an RMA. Might wind up getting something far slower in return. I'd suggest bringing a "bunch-0-cash" as it is a great visual aid and bargening tool. Think I'd start by trying to establish prices on the rest of the set up, 9800XT, HDD, Processor as he will prolly be fairly high the first time around. Then offer $200 cash and I'd personally max out at $300US for 2x512 modules. Prolly worth more but I'll leave that up to you. If the guy is high again offer him $200 cash for the 9800XT and I'll pay you $250 for it. Or feel free to PM me with his phone number and I'll try the oldfaht razzle-dazzle via phone. Best of luck, dude!
Guest Ph0n33z Posted July 4, 2004 Posted July 4, 2004 Alright Sounds, I will look into it. However, I found some kingston memory on zipzoomfly that looks to be BH-5 memory, as it does not contain any letters after the KHX3000. Heres the link, just want to be sure.... http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...oductCode=80088 Well after referencing the site that lists all the modules and their chips, it seems as tho it is a bit of luck if they do contain either bh-5 or bh-6. I hope it isn't the CH-5 chip. Also, Sound, will the BH-6 show up the same in cpu-z as the bh-5? Edit: Well guys, I know I have asked before, but it seems newegg has no bh5 left, and I don't know for sure whether mwave does, so could u guys direct me to some? The place I was gonna get that pc at doesnt want to sell just the video card and memory, so I have to find some other place to shop. Thanks! Those Mushkins aren't registered. Still a damn good price though as the Mushy memory listed would sell for about $500 on Ebay!
