Aurhinius Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 sounds like the dreaded dead bios does your floppy disk drive do a check? If so you may be able to recover it otherwise you need to get a new bios chip
NiCKE^ Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Nah my floppy didnt work and I've not checked out whats wrong about it. Where can I get a new bios chip in Sweden?
Aurhinius Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 if you know someone that has the same board as you, you could hot flash it. If not you may have to contact DFI and get them to send you one for a small charge.
NiCKE^ Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 what about the hot flash thing?
Aurhinius Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 you get someone with the same board as you. You get them too boot up and then remove the bios chip. This will not damage it. You then insert your bios chip and flash the bios like you would if you were upgrading. Then you replace the old bios chip back and take yours home to use in your board. Popcicle Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Which BIOS version are you running presently? If you have developed the cold boot issue try this. Hit the power button to power up and when you hear the fans etc spin up... then hit the re-set button for an easy count of 3 or 4 and see if things boot up. Sorry it didnt work so well, I will just order a new bios when I get money for it, there is nothing more to do. *EDIT* Will it be possible to hotflash my bios with a Abit AN7 card? *EDIT*
Popcicle Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Yes. When removing and replacing a BIOS chip orientate the chip correctly to the chip socket when you re-insert the chip. If the chip is placed in the socket 180 degrees in error it will "smoke" the chip. As they are + and - voltage sensitive.
