deja100 Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 ok. ive got a athlon XP 3000+ which is similar to your chip. in my experiences, when you get the "windowssystem32configsystem is corrupted" message, it usually means that your memory system is unstable and the file is being corrupted when its loaded into memory (unless of course the file IS corrupted . ive been working on an overclocked system for a while now and ive gotten that message several times, when i pushed the memory speed farther than board could take. as soon as i lowered the memory speed back down windows loaded just fine. you may have already tried these but heres a few ideas (i apologize if im telling you stuff you already know): 1. did you set your memory to run off SPD or did you set your memory timings manually. SPD casues problems sometimes with larger amounts of memory. start off with conservative settings just to make sure its stable, once you have that you can play with the timings to optimize your bandwidth. heres a link at tomshardware.com that explains what memory timings mean and how to set them: http://www.tomshardware.com/howto/20030701..._tuning-10.html 2. what is your FSB/MEM ratio set at? if it is AUTO try setting to 1:1 to make sure its set that way, this is the optimal (and most stable in my experience) setup you can have. 3. try setting your chipset and memory voltages manually instead of AUTO. normally AUTO isnt a problem for these but its always possible. however MAKE SURE you set them within what you memory can take. standard DDR voltage is 2.6, but check with your manufacturers website to make sure. for the chipset voltage start off with 1.6. this is enough juice for most DDR400 modules ive come into contact with, but it may need to go up to 1.7 or 1.8. 4. if the above doesnt seem to solve your problem, try manually setting the CPU voltage. again make sure you check what your chips voltage should be and start off there. i believe the standard voltage for the 3000+ and 3200+ is 1.65? im not sure ive always used AUTO with no problems. you can find that on AMD's website and many others. just make sure you watch your CPU temp as you raise the voltage. 5. its possible that one of your sticks may be faulty. take one out and run memtest86 for 30 mins to an hour. if no errors come up, take that stick out and repeat with the other one. 6. A last possibility is that the board simply doesnt like your brand of memory, this is likely not the case but always a possibility. check the FAQ at DFI.com they have FAQ's for several manufacturers saying whether or not their boards work well with them. good luck, and let me know if any of this helps
