Cyberparasite Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 When will DFI tire of using paying customers for guinea pigs? It's becoming increasingly obvious that it may well be impossible for them to release a stable official bios for the latest series of nforce2 boards. CrimeDog Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I've never had stability issues with any of the bioses (especially at stock speeds :-P). So I have no idea what you are talking about, but my guess is you don't know your board well enough yet, and have an axe to grind. Angry_Games Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 the problem as I see it is users like Cyber are looking for the 'magical fix-all' bios. There is never going to be one of these. The 11/27 bios is stable at stock speeds for 99% of all users. but you guys dont want stock speeds. you want extreme overclocks. You want to use this and that hardware. You want everything to work for you, and the next guy wants everything perfect for him, and so on and so on down the line. ie: you want some magical bios that will work for you and everyone regardless of what you all want out of your motherboard. this isn't going to happen. period. Oskar keeps releasing beta bioses based on what users (overclockers) tell him they want. Some beta's give better results here or there, while limiting results in another area. This is the nature of computers and technology. You gain some here but have to yield some to gain that. So like CrimeDog says, stability at stock speeds isn't really an issue. You show me a mobo mfg that guarantees an overclock, and I will give you money. Because none of us do. And none of us ever will. We make the boards to be overclocked, but no way can we guarantee any overclock. If we were all on a Mac then maybe.

red930 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Ummm...noone forces us to use BETA... I choose to, because I have fun solving puzzles and tweaking... this is the way I approach overclocking... it is a puzzle and I want to try to get all the pieces to fit together the best they can with the pieces I have... everyone has different pieces, so we all have different puzzles. (whoa.. a bit too zen.....) either way.. i volunteer

Mekrel Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 lol well I cant complain so far now i got my speeds right , isnt it also people choice to use the beta bios?, and at that people like Angry tell them it is so at thier own risk and people who use betas should only be those who are comfortable with flashing and have a bios Savior IMO. Lets call them clever and experience guinea pigs

In order to run my hardware at rated speeds a beta is the only option. I don't want a magic bios, I want an official one that works. No beta bios has yet been good enough or stable enough to be approved by dfi as official?

Yeah.. well, except for the cold boot problems that some of us do experince and these newer bios'es do seem to reduce... With the 11/27 i've had to use 30mins to get the machine to boot, now with the 05/06 the problem are reduced into a couple of tries. I think DFI should make a Official BIOS release that are better than the 11/27 in regard to the cold boot problem.
