pinstripe007 Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 If there is already a post I apologize... As I was browsing on the SI website, I found a new SATA RAID driver released today. Just curious on should I or should I not? Anyone have any experiences to share? Here are the released notes for this driver (from the Silicon Image Site): SiI3114: Serial ATA (SATA) Windows RAID Driver - Released The latest Windows RAID driver for the SiI3114 SATA Controller chip can be downloaded from the links on the right. These drivers support Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP. Windows 95 is not supported. Comments/Special Instructions: > The following changes are included in this release; 1.Fixed a bug that caused system bug check during RAID1 set member rebuild. The bug was induced when new feature of monitor I/O activities was added in order to reduce the occurrence of RAID1 rebuild in case of unexpected improper shutdown. 2.Fixed a bug that caused a Raid10 member not shown under GUI when the member was unplugged, removed under GUI by clicking the ‘remove’ button, and then re-attached back to the controller. 3.Added emulation support for SCSI Read/Write Buffer commands. 4.Changed the way driver handles IOCTL requests that return device Identify data. Previously the driver returned a copy of the Identify data cached within the driver. Now the driver would send an Identify command to the device to retrieve it. This change is required to support hibernation using drivers that support a large number of devices. 5.Legacy command queue feature was disabled. Thanks Hope this helps out
soundx98 Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Think it's the WHQL version of the 1.007 that's been up some time. Doesn't appear to have any changes to it. I hadn't seen the SATA Raid PDF before. That is new for sure. The JAVA GUI utility also is very similar and fun to mess with. Sent an e-mail to Sil Image regarding changes but I think I'm on their "whiner/send to junk mail" list cause of all the e-mails sent regarding the 3114 performance in RAID 0. nice find, reloaded everything and working same same.
