strange nf2 infinity problem

Recommended Posts

hi guys, first of all I'd like to say I really appreciate the way DFI offers customer support: great forums, beta bioses for the masses and a fast RMA service.

so, I really hope that my question / description of my problem(s) fits into this forum since in a way it's also overclocking related

my setup:

XP 2500+ / slk 900u + 92mm fan

DFI infinity /w 2/17/04(1/31 ROMSIP) bios - no mods done to the board except a TIM switch on the NB

2*256 corsair bh-5 / 2*256mb twinmos bh-5 / 2*512mb infineon 6-A

antec true power 430W / gf4 ti4200

the problem:

I can do 11*183mhz 2-2-2-11- eefe cpu interface enabled memtest+86 1.15 + prime 95 stable @ 1.575V Vcore / def. Vagp / def. Vdd / 2.65V Vdimm

but there's no way to get a 200mhz fsb  when set in bios the board won't post and clockgen for nf2, I set the fsb and the puter reboots.

I tried the 1/31 + 1/21 bios, didn't help @ all :(

I'm into overclocking for a long time now but never ever did see soemthing like this. maybe there's just a bios setting which I missed or something like that?

please let me know if you can think of a solution, thanks in advance!

Welcome....

My pick of the RAM you have listed is the TwinMos

and ran in slots 1 & 3.

I would run the Vcore at 1.750 to 1.850 area and

run the Vdimm at 3.0 to 3.2 area. (TwinMos luv's

juice)

You are not running the Mobile version chip so I

would set the Multi at 10 and the FSB at 200 (in

BIOS).... then use Clock/Gen and go up with the

FSB from there.

Luck.

Pops.

Yep I concur. I'd definitely start with raising the Vdimm with either the Twinmos or the Corsair and then I would look @ voltage stability with the 430W PSU just to make sure the rails are supplying good juice. Since the modifier is @ 11 I assume this is an unlocked desktop barton?

If you are trying 200x11 with an XP2500+ at [1.575 that is probably the reason.

Bump the CPU volts up to 1.700 and run a little more Vdimm on those BH5's. Also go with

11,3,3,2,2 timings until things start sorting out.

thanks for the warm welcome ;)

it's a non-mobile XP 2500+ week 11, 2004. so I've do "work" with a fixed multi of 11. I tried Vcores up to 1.875V, Vagp up to 1.8V, Vdd up to 1.8V and Vdimm up to 3.1V / ya, bh-5 loves voltage :P / but no success.

the psu is very stable and can handle more than a 2.2ghz XP :/

for me it looks like as if I had bad luck and got the worse infinity on this planet :(
