Flagg Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 Typical of me, to speak too soon. I figured since I was up and running decently, and it's time to try and bring my speeds up a bit, once again, I may as well put the 11/27's onto the RD1. Winflash w/ 11/27 = verify error = non-bootable bios. I've tried to do it conventionally, using boot disk with awdflash and 11/27, gives me message "Flash ROM is write-protected". I've tried this many times now, with switches recommended elsewhere on this forum, and it either gets about halfway before showing write errors or doesn't even start writing at all. I know, without a doubt, the bios saviour is installed properly, so that's not the problem. Could it be a faulty unit?

Popcicle Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 ^ ^ ^ as above. Also, did you try the /nbl/ switch? (no boot lock)

(no boot lock) That's "No Bios Lock" lol and is used to get around a lock string mismatch. You will get a lock string mismatch and error when you move your BS from one MB type or brand to another...like from an A7N8X to a DFI UI. When you first go to flash the BS with a DFI bios after the move you will get an LS error because the LS programmed in the bios from the Asus image doesn't match the LS of the DFI image. The whole point being so you do not accidently flash the wrong bios to the MB. Viper

Flagg Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 Thank you thank you RGone for reminding me. I had disabled the bios lock prior to installing the saviour but between that time and trying to update the bios had loaded a saved cmos that had it enabled, and assumed that particular one was disabled. Stupid of me not to double-check but thanks to RGone for smacking me upside the head, figuratively speaking of course
RGone Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004  ...Hehehehe. Either the board, the memory or the powersupply has constantly slapped me upside the head to the point I think it quite natural now. Hehehehehe. Of course in public people keep pointing at the large blue swelling on my forehead. Hehehehehe. Not a problem and that thing has caught me like a drop on a bungee cord at least a few times. :shake: Sincerely, RGone...
