Just some stuff

EDIT: NOTE UPDATED SIG FOR LATEST SETTINGS (07/18/04)

1. New buffalo CH5 (2x512) running memtest test 5 for 1.5 hrs so far at the following: 11x245, 1918mb/sec, 9,2,2,2,11,15 CPC on (everything enabled) 1,3,3,3,3,3,4

(Still got one error on test 3 to burn out :) )

Vcore 1.825, vdd/agp auto, vdimm 3.3.

Using these to cool memory (yeah, 16) (currently they are shipping w/chomerics t412 for sticking on) Barely warm to touch w/ fan blowing on them.

BIOS is the 505T6-18 (from XS mad bios scientists (crazy like fox hehe :D ))

CPU temp 35 (BIOS at reboot) so guestimate of 40c under load so far.

Current HSF is Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu.

After I am done sinking everything and trying some more windows stuff at 10x235 (3d2k1 at 18500 there so far but not primed yet), will stick it all under the mach 1 and see where she will end up

Can't get over 245 w/o errors in memtest for anything DC (tried 2 boards, 4 cpus and 6 sticks of BH/CH5 (interestingly the CH5 seems to be working better for me (maybe smaller process draws less power?) Have several BH5 sticks that will run 255 FSB single channel but not DC, tried every setting variation I know and then some: Voltage and cooling do not appear to be factors here. Will try some stuff after it's all under the prommie but not optimistic in short term.

FOR OTHER BH/CH-5/6 users!!!

WARNING MAD SCIENTIST TERRITORY!!!!

BACK UP THE HARD DRIVE BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT TRYING THIS!!!

You choose to risk your PC ON YOUR OWN

Note that this only seems to get this 'mad max' at 10x###Fsb

(That's why I am not using it since I intend to run at 11/12 x, my settings, courtesy of LastViking seem to hold constant for 10 ->11)

Lower your FSB by 10 first, then run memtest to get a feel for your bandwidth, also use your other benchies of choice. This also may vary for different memories so find your max memtest Bandwidth then test.

Okay now unplug the HD (don't want to make mush by accident)

Change the setting to e,a,e,10,2,2,2,12,15...1,1,3,3,2,1,4 (all other stuff enabled including CPC), now 10x245 bandwidth in memtest was now 1957, 10x250 (same level of instability as always  ) 1997mb/sec. Check for memtest stability. If that is okay, then plug the drive back in and see what you can do in windows. If it works (and someone will get it to work :D ) this should be a major boost. We will want to see comparative benchies!!!

P.S. Any ideas on my 250 issues?

I dont get it.

You mean plug the hard drive in HOT after running memtest?

I dont understand what is Danger/Danger Will Robinson about your statement?

The results you report at parrallel to what I see.

When I went to try to get some corsair twinx 1024 bh5 and ended up w/ch5 instead, I tried it out b4 I asked for an RMA. One stick worked EXACTLY the same as my bh5 (Up to 250FSB at 11-2-2-2 and same at 220 and 2.8Vdimm) The other stick was crap:mad: .

Gave me incentive to get 2x512 buffalo CH5 and am now priming over 10hrs (v23.8/blend) at 10x240 w/ following settings memory-wize:D :

11-2-2-2-13-15-1-1-4-3-2-1-3 CPC on, rest as usual

Vanilla 5/05 UI bios, vcore = 1.725, vdd = 1.7, vdimm = 3.2

just using a CNPS7000-Cu for cooling. 3dk201=19204 at this speed:shake: .

Passed every memory stability test I threw at it (memtest, m$soft, goldmemory).

Just sharing was seems to work on my 'pile o'hardware' in the basement. Gotta reload xp this weekend and see how 11x240 works.

'CPC is a must for me!'

Uamdtool.exe says that is first point where I go from 3700+ to 3800+ :shake:

Ran prime95 torture/blend for 23hrs39mins (wanted to nudge her up b4 going to work :D ) Ran 3d2k1 one more time for yucks b4 shutting down and still worked (even though down to 18884 :( )

Just changed FSB and whilst 3d2k1 go boom after test 3, left it running w prime95 (was going for 20 mins when I left).

For Memoryman - removed all the stickers (why can't anyone put the stickers in the middle so as not to affect cooling  2sides x 2blank spots ) and stuck on some OCZ Aluminum HSFs (1/chip) Now they look like hedgehogs but they are COOL  Making up a screw-on bracket w/ 2 70mm TMD fans to go over the memory this weekend

CPU temp is about 37c so far. Will try to get to 245, then up the multi (11.5x here I come!) Assuming it makes it to 11x, will shove it under the prommie this week ) I am reasonably confident of 2700+ real.

P.S. AG/RG - How do I get some images on here of the fully sinked board most easily?

  • 3 weeks later...

Check out the sig (10 hrs prime + 3d2k1=19650 @ 1.875, now lowering vcore to see where I end up)

Gotta reload windoze and stuff and fiddle some more but it works well enough for general checking.

Will do the toaster thing after the reload, etc.

242 FSB is the board's limit but I can live w/ it

Think she has 12x in her.

Note: Zalman CPNS7000 + DFI UI + LianLi V1100 case is NO GO (DanM BULKHEAD too close by about .25" :( ).

Does anyone have thoughts on SP97 w/ lower powered fan, is it worth much more cooling-wise than SP-900 (the generic clip on)???

That will be for m'other UI for my wife - her's will only be running @ 235 x 11 or sumpin....:shake:

Amazing what a dremel and some of those OCZ alum. BGA sinks can do, attached w/ melcor thermal tape

this is of course b4 I put on the mach1. (evap temp says -33)

dficool.jpg

XTRA cooling for the back (raised up the board a little higher of the tray and said screw the backplate, get more airflow out the back

dfiback.jpg

Closeup of everything getting their own sinks in vcore land

vcores.jpg

Gotta get a pic of teh bracket w/ the TMD fan over the memory. Took piece of AL angle and bent/trimmed to mount using MB holes on either side of the memory and bolted down a TMD 70mm fan. Everything is nice and

Hope this helps someone :D

Reloaded windows, etc and raised resolution to my usual 1920x1440 had to raise voltage to 1.875, trying to keep from 1.9

Primed up to 7hrs 52 min. then PHOOEY

3d2k1 unimproved is just over 20k, just keepin on burnin in, will be working on Pile of Hardware 2 soon (another UI and xp2600)

Memory fet and IC are no-brainers (70c), vcore just on general principle

'I sink, therefore I am':shake:

If you wanna really get anal about this, I sanded the anodizing off the base to improve the thermal interface for the little sinks (seems silly to get some really good HSF tape and then slap an insulator on it, no matter how small). Seem to work okay :D

Also the extra spacers in the back are important for both these and the back part of the mach1 to fit easily w/o MB tray, etc hackage (lost one board from too tight a fit. (remember the 3.7 volt vdimm references at pcper?)

Tonite I say to heck w/ it and go to 1.9 Vcore to see what happens, maybe prime w/ be completely prime stable then....
