HeyArnold Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 I´m a new User of a Dfi-Board. And i´m wondering which Bios I should take. Is it a big risk flashing to the Beta Bioses? Don´t wanna kill my Bios Chip.
soundx98 Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Such a big risk that if you dork your board it is not covered under warranty. Good to invest in a bios savior.

This or if you ever did a hotflash... it should work too The 1-21 would be the best beta (stability overall, peripheral's stability - no dropping)... but you should perform soundx98's "war mods" before, the L12 one at least (you don't have a mobile yet?) but I think even the 1.775V defaulting mod should get you some less boot up problems with your 1.65V chip. If you are worried and don't feel safe, don't flash.
HeyArnold Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 I´ll take this under consideration... But nevertheless I think i´ll try one of the last official Bios. Is a mobile CPU that much better? (of course i think silly question) Buyed this AQFZA Athlon to reach 220 x 11. I think this should work (A friend o mine reached these settings easily)
red930 Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 I honestly wouldn't try a beta without a Bios Savior or spare Bios chip..... I use the 1/21 bios with on problems, but any others that I have tried rendered my board unbootable and useless... With Bios savior I could be back on track and posting again... Without... I would have a big dead computer... the BIos files that are Beta...are Beta for a reason...they are not fully tested and ready for 'prime time' I truly think patience is a virtue here... order a Bios savior.. wait for it to arrive......install it... And then have fun! Just my Very humble opinion
HeyArnold Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 Anyone knows where I can order a bios savior for my Board in Germany?
anchorman Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 In my opinion, a working 5/5 is better than all other BIOS, but if you don't want to take the chance, go with 1/21 (may have cold/warm boots which werent fixed until 4/29 and 5/5)

Link is here: http://www.oc-card.de/pd586381036.htm?defa...&categoryId=167 The RD1 PMC4... should be right, as this is the one for nf7 too... @anchorman I would not recommend a bios with a 30% failure quote at all, he would very likely gain nothing, but render his board unbootable... he can check this bios when he has an RD1... I also like this version, but I would not recommend it to flash to at first.
