elts_drac Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 It was probably just a corrupt windows install, since you said after the reinstall with APIC disabled it doesn't seem to be crashing. I would still recommend cooling the 4 mosfets next to the dimm slots, especially the one closest to the CPU since that is the actual VDIMM controller and it can get 80C+. Mount a fan over you ram and there should be plenty of propwash to hit the sinks you put on the mosfets.
Guest jaco Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Update : Current settings 233*10 vcore 1.675 , agp 1.6v , mem 3,1 , chipset 1,7. Memory timings 2-2-3-3-6. I'm using a crappy coolermaster heatsink at the moment , temps are pretty high already. When I reinstall my watercooling , i will try a higher multi. Toastersignature here i come:) But the good news : pc never crashed or freezed anymore ! Problem seems to be solved. -jaco
Guest jaco Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 What I did to solve these problems : New harddisk (maxtor 40gb) other videocard Gf3 Ti200 , 1 stick Bh-5 (this had most probably nothing to do with the initial problems) A.disabled APIC in BIOS B. reinstalled windows XP following this sequence : 1. Windows XP w/SP1a - 1a. If you need LAN drivers to connect to internet, or modem drivers, please install ONLY the LAN/modem driver needed to connect. 2. WindowsUpdate Critical updates 3. check again for Critical updates, download, or if none, go to #4 4. chipset drivers - off your cd for Intel boards, 3.13 Nvidia NF2 chipset drivers 5. DirectX9b (can download from windowsupdate non-criticals) 6. Video Card Drivers (ATI/NVidia etc) 7. Audio card drivers/periphial drivers (printers, scanners etc) 8. Windows update for driver updates/non-criticals like WinMedia9 etc 9. Anti-Virus and other software -jaco
