Hi,

Recently built a new pc. I have upgraded from an 8 year old Athlon 1.4GHz

The new pc is

64bit Q6600 2.4Ghz Quad Core

Asus P5k Premium Mobo

4 x 1GB Corsair XMS2 6400 Ram

OCZ 600W PSU

2 x 500 GB Samsung Spinpoint SATAII drives (configured as RAID 1)

ATI Radeon HD 3650

I have installed vista (I can't get xp to install due to BSOD but that is for another thread)

The PC seemed slower than my old system which doesn't seem right to me. I was expecting it to be speedy quick.

I have ran a HD Tach test, what it showed me is below. Surely this isn't right? I expected it to be around 130? Would anyone be able to suggest what is wrong as I really dont want a

You said you expected it to be around 130? What you mean? As on the graph, higher score is better and you have 201 mb/s.

So expecting it to be around 130 is to wish them be slower. :) Anyways, to me it seems also slow. My RAID 0 setup with 2 X WD 160 GB

give me 270 MB/s and average read of 100 MB/s.

Have you tryed single drive speed check? Maybe its all what 500 GB Samsung can give in RAID 1 setup.
