BionicSniper Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Anyone else running 64 bit vista? I put it on my thinkpad r61 and it's amazingly responsive and fast. 4gb ram and a t8300 seem to power through absolutly everything. The only real powerful 64 bit app i have is solidworks as my copy of cs3 is 32bit but everything still works. I've had no compatability problems as of yet. Anyone else using it? Fireonice Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I am on my laptop to Extremely fast on my 1.5 c2d 2gb of ram. No problems here either
Hienrich Jager Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Installed the Ultimate version on my main rig. I don't have any performance complaints so far. It seems to never have to wait or "think" or anything like that. I don't run very many x64 apps, primarily just Rhino's NURBS modeling and that is primarily GPU intensive. Only real complaint with it so far is issues arising from XP era apps, but that is to be expected. Jager
Compxpert Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Just installed Vista 64 my self on my new rig. Runs swell and I have yet to find compatibility problems.
ClayMeow Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I've been running Vista Home Premium 64 since around January or so. I haven't found any program compatibility issues. I couldn't get my headset working at first, but I gave up pretty quickly...and I think I may have discovered the problem the other day while poking around, but have just been too lazy to reconnect it and try it. lol. I never had 32-bit Vista, so I can't compare speeds, but definitely no complaints about 64-bit.
Waco Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I had a bit of trouble with Creative drivers (go figure) but nothing else after having it installed since last fall.
Compxpert Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I had a bit of trouble with Creative drivers (go figure) but nothing else after having it installed since last fall. As has everyone though. I've only heard of problems when it comes to creatives 64bit drivers. :/
Fanatic Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I have been running it a couple months and the only issues I have are with little things. Like older programs ie...Samurize, Networking XP and Vista using Ultra Vnc etc..
SMeeD Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) As has everyone though. I've only heard of problems when it comes to creatives 64bit drivers. :/ Ive had 64bit for a few months and out of the very few problems Ive had with vista, my xfi takes the blame for 99% of them. Overall though, its been very smooth and easy going and I would dump XP if I had to do it over again.
