Review My Build

Configured a pretty cheap compy for my little brother. He's using it mostly for school work, some games (hellgate london), and media.

I think it will suffice.

Anyway here goes:

the title of ur thread says $5500!

that build looks grand, good choices all round as far as i know!

Thanks for pointing out my budget error!

I have swapped a few parts around and now have:

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM - $44.99

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail - $89.99

Heard the EP35 was a good board (more USB, better PCI-E x16 2.0 support?) so I think I will be trying it out instead. However it's quite a bit more than the previous mobo I had chosen so I had to knock down the HDD a little bit.

Total now after shipping is:

$534.39

Anything I could do to lower it? If not I think I'm rather satisfied.

Did a build almost exactly like yours awhile ago, and i got a couple things to add.

If the PS is the 380W Earthwatts, it will be more then fine. It's actually a pretty decent PSU. As for the DS3L or the G31 one. Both work very well. I used the G31 just cause, well it was cheaper and she never has much add-on cards going in, other then a wireless card. Its a decent budget board, and OC's pretty decently as well. (Then again so does the DS3L).

I'd probably suggest the G31 mobo and more HDD space though if it were me.

Howdy. Everything is up and running! Here is the flickr gallery:

I've also uploaded pictures of the bios options for overclocking. What I would like to do is push this from 2.0Ghz to 3.0Ghz or close to it.

What do you guys recommend I do knowing what parts I have? Just look at the options available and tell me what to change! Thanks!!!!

Read the overclocking Core2duo's thread in the Overclocking section, after that you should have some idea on what to change. It's infinitely better if you learn that way and through some trial and error.
