Onion Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I just got GPU [email protected] recently for my gts g92 and whenever I run gpu [email protected] and I overclock the card it gives a very high pitched whining noise. What the hell?! What's the problem, and how can I fix it? It is very annoying. Btw, the sound only happens when gpu is overclocked (any speed), but it doesnt happen at stock. SMeeD Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 It could be a coil vibrating. I had a squealing PSU and I guess its not that uncommon. If its a coil I think you can put a dab of hot glue on it.
Onion Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hmm, was looking around on google, and I saw that lots of people are having this problem with their nvidia gpu's when running [email protected] for gpu and overclocking it. Mass coil production error?

Mass coil production error? It doesn't necessarily signify an error, the part itself is probably fine.
hardnrg Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 The reason is coil-whine... inductors can emit a high frequency noise from oscillation under load... if you can pin-point the sound and identify the component producing the sound, you can try covering it with hot glue to dampen or eliminate the vibration... One way of locating the sound is using a desktop microphone as a sonic probe
