Power Failure - Windows Update Crash

Windows Xp was updating itself when the power was suddenly lost. Now the system has totally stopped. All I get is the flashing cursor when it boots up

What could I do to get things sorted?

Thanks in advance

You could boot from your Windows XP disk and try a repair but with this happening during an update it could be wipe and start again I'm afraid.

1) Remove the hardisk, pop it in your friends or different system, check for bad sectors, then fix it back , pop in xp-disk, try repairing it with the option given..

2) try using Winternals, erd commander to get back to your last restore point ( this is the best option )

3) Safe mode if you can get in it.

4) format it :) :) ( kidding)
