Stryker125 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) Well, Since I just replaced my C2Q fan with a 9700, I've got an extra heat sink fan lying around. I'm going to rebuild a Pentium 4 system and want to know which one of these stock HSF's would cool a P4 better. The P4 Stock HSF has a heat sink thats approximately double that of the C2Q one. But the C2Q looks like uses it a copper contact on the bottom. Suggestions? Opinions? Ideas? Flames? jammin Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Try them both and compare temperatures? That would be a sure way of knowing.
Stryker125 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 That is indeed the best way. But unfortunately I've only got enough thermal grease for around one and a half fans =) So I thought I'd ask first before going out to the store and getting more. capthowdy575 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 im pretty sure that a C2D runs cooler then a P4 so less is needed to cool the C2D. why do you think the heat sink is bigger then the C2D
hardnrg Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 does the P4 board have the same 4 holes as the 775 board?
Stryker125 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 does the P4 board have the same 4 holes as the 775 board? Yup. Exactly the same.
