Rokkaholik Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 When I built my new PC, I wanted the stability of XP, but also wanted o test the waters of Vista as well, so I partitioned my hard drive and dual booted it. XP was installed first and then Vista. When starting the system, and It gets to the OS choice screen, it's automatically on Vista unless I change it manually and hit enter. If I fire up the PC and go off to do something else, the PC will automatically go to Vista if I don't manually change it to XP. Is there a way to set it so that XP would be the default unless I choose Vista?
PeterStoba Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 In XP, Right click my computer, click properties, then go to Advanced, then click settings under startup and recovery then choose the default
Rokkaholik Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Looking into those settings, it says it's already set for XP. I wonder what Vista is set to...
Rokkaholik Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Update: I actually had to go to Vista and find the same Advanced Settings and it was set to Vista, so I switched it to XP and it's the default now. Thanks for the tip! B:)

Rokkaholik Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 I only tinker with Vista now and then, but mainly use XP. Now I can fire the PC up and walk away rather than sit there and wait
MitEclipse2G Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 get EasyBCD for vista, it does the work
Verran Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 get EasyBCD for vista, it does the work Great little program for toying with Vista's bootloader. For the record, the one you're used to using in XP is not the same. Changing that won't help you.
