I just won a bid on e-bay for a evga 8800gtx vga card. I got it for 275.00 + shipping . Just think I payed over 600.00 for the one I have . I'm going SLI with'um. From looking at my spects do you think my psu is good enough ?

I sure hope so I dont want to buy another psu.

If i remember correctly the 8800gtx takes 2, 6pin connectors so if you sli you need 4, 6pin connectors

Is there an adapter that will convert one of the four pin power connectors to, two of the six pin ?

Only PCI-E adapter I've seen is one that requires two molex plugs per.

Though normally I'd just write them off as a gimmick, something like this might work for you. Doesn't cost a bundle and it'll keep you from upgrading your PSU. Normally wouldn't recommend it, though.

With that having been said, the PCP&C Silencer 610 should handle 8800GTX SLI with an overclocked E8400 with ease. But if you're a bit nervous about that then the Silencer 750 quad will take care of the job, no questions asked. $120 at newegg after rebate so it's not that heavy of a hit on the wallet, either.

Edit: But if adapters are all you'll need, they're dirt cheap.

I just ordered two of the 4 to 6 pin converters. Do you believe my 600 watt psu can't do this job?

Not sure. Seems like it would hold up but I just figured that with the way your previous posts sounded that you wanted a new PSU.

No ,I just want the 8800gtx in sli . I hope that my psu can handle it . I will a bit of research when I get to work.

Your PSU will be fine.

People scaremogger far too much over wattage.

IF its a good quality PSU, it will EASILY handle the load.

I have tested, and my system in sig at MAX draws 370 W from the Wall.

So at 80% eff. thats 296W...say 300W for arguments sake.

Thats with 1 8800GTX. If your PSU can handle a 600W DC load, it will be fine.

There is no way adding another GTX will draw a further 300W

Once you got the SLi, let me know how it performs ;) I am in the same boat, got 1 8800GTX atm, and could be tempted to go SLi!
