2gb Of Ddr3 (1333) Or 4gb+ Of Ddr2 (1066)

I know, I know - it depends, but generally.......

 

Taking into account that I want to play games, encode movies (a little), record sutff off TV. Going for E8400 processor 1333 fsb.....

 

Which is going to give me best Operating System stability and Application Performance?

 

Will the higher latencies on DDR3 not matter because of their architecture? Conversely, will lower latency DDR2 perform better at only ~200mHz lower frequency? Will double the amount of DDR2 make the different architectures irrelevant except in the most intensive activities?

I don't know the difference in DDR2 to DDr3 architecture or performance to be able to judge which would provide the better cost/performance ratio.

DDR3 is silly. Too expensive for little (if any) real world benefit. 99 times out of 100 you'll never know the difference from DDR2 to DDR3.

 

Go with DDR2.

I'm with Verran, plus the 4gb will make multi-tasking while gaming a breeze with near instant alt-tabs
