Great_Gig Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Hi, does anyone that has a 9600GT know the dimensions of the cards holes, for affixing an after market cooler? I would like to know these before I buy a card if possible. The picture below shows what I am after, the distance between the holes in mm? Can you help? I would like to try and find the distance between both holes, the first one after the red line and also the next. Many thanks GG Edited June 6, 2008 by Great Gig
OwinC Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 61mm for the inner one. 75mm on the outer one.
Great_Gig Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Brilliant, many thanks for that :thumbs-up: GG EDIT: That's top banana, in fact the cooler I want to use has both 61mm & 75mm holes on the mounting arms, so I'm sorted. OwinC Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 No problem. Oh and my OC idle is around 35, and OC load is around 42. Core 765 mem 1025. If that helps you out any.

I take it you have after market cooling to get those temps? I have heard these cards run quite cool, but would be interested to know what you use? PeterStoba Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I have an Palit/Xpertvision 9600GT and i get around those temps, it uses a non-reference cooler
OwinC Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 My CM Centurion case was modded for cooling. Under my main drive I cut out A 120mm hole and installed the stock fan that was in the rear of the case to that location. Then i got a replacement fan for the rear. I cut out all the grill openings. But I need to get some wire grills, so I don't have wires go into the 80mm fan. Plus I need to install a grill for the rear fan. Finger nipper. OUCH!! Plus it helps when my office is cool, and not hot. And I did make a mistake on the temps. Idle is around 35 and load is closer to 47. Sorry for the mistake in the temps. Great_Gig Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Sorry for the mistake in the temps. No probs at all - I have an unused CM Centurion at the moment, that I am going to transfer my current rig to, during the new build. I was considering cutting the grill out for the rear 120mm fan, mainly for quiet but if it helps for cooling as well, then that's a bonus. May also consider a 120mm for the front too, as the 80mm is not that good, especially sitting behind the switch assembly. A great little case though, had it since they first came out, I have lined it with carpet underlay and it's virtually silent in use - only thing I can hear is the 80mm at the front, which is another reason it's in need of a rethink. OwinC Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 If you have not knocked out the 2nd or the 5th knock out. The screw holes would line up. Set up the fan on the outside. (with the face plate off) And just trace out a 120mm circle. Then cut it out.
Great_Gig Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 That looks like what I will do then - thanks for the pics. That will give me much better airflow and with the fan there it will be going towards the CPU HS too. It's a shame CM put that damn switch assembly right in front of the 80mm, never understood why they did that? They should have put the switch where the inputs are at the bottom and put the inputs at the top, for easier access for a floor standing machine. OwinC Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Stupid (ME) here just noticed that the front front 120mm fan was installed backwards. Pulls out what little hair there is. No wonder temps were high. So Stupid here remounted it properly. Temps now going down. Now the two front fans pull fresh air in and the back pushes the heated air out. Now I feel like I did something positive.
