TheReaper Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi all, sorry to rehash this but I'm running 4 x 1gb sticks of Elixir pc6400 800mhz RAM in dual channel on my Asus P5N32-e SLI 680i mobo and q6600 CPU @ 3.6ghz... but in CPU-Z it shows the RAM freauency to be only 400mhz, even when the CPU was @ stock 2.4 it showed the RAM in CPU-Z to be 400mhz. What's wrong with the setup? Why isn't it showing as 800mhz RAM frequency? Thanks all.
CanadaGUY Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Basically you take what CPU-Z shows, so for your 400mhz and double it to get the effective speed of the ram. This is because it is DDR (ie. Double data rate). DDR2-800 --> 400mhz (800mhz effective) DDR2-1066 --> 533mhz (1066mhz effective) Confusing eh?
