Overclocking Q9300 - Voltages! Need Help!!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just wanted to oc my Q9300. I'm using Zalman CNPS9500 CPU cooler and I'm going for 3.00GHz to 3.20GHz.

My case has it's side open and it's cooled with 2 x 120mm fans (front & rear) plus a 10inch table fan blowing

through the open side, directly to CPU and graphics card. Current idle temps of my CPU are 48C, 47C, 55C

and 48C and core #3 has always 3C - 4C more than the other 3 cores.

I need suggestions about the voltage settings bellow:

- Vcore

- NB

- SB

- ICH

- Bvore

- FBS

Should I also tweak RAM timings? Will I need NB and SB coolers? Should I upgrade my CPU cooler? Any recommendations?

Target system:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 (F6 bios)

RAM: 2 x 2 GB Mushkin XP2-8500 DDR2 modules (PC2-8500, 1066, 5-5-5-15, 2.10v)

GPU: Albatron SVGA GeForce 9800 GX2 (OCed @ 730MHz/1152MHz/1825MHz)

PPU: BFG Ageia Physx 100

SOUND: Onboard

PSU: Tagan TG1100-U96 Turbojet 1100 Watts

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (Service Pack 1)

etc

Thank you in advance....

I'm not a pro Overclocker but those temps sound kind of high to me at idle with stock speeds. I have that board in the DDR3 model. I am a 3.2 with minor adjustments to the voltages. On most of those I am at +.5 to +1.0. Start low and work your way up to stable.

What's your VID? You can find that out with cpuz.

hi! if you mean the CPU core voltage, then CPUz reports 1.20 volts
