Neural_Overload Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) I need a new gaming mouse. However, I'm torn between three mice. The G5, G9 and the Razer Lachesis. I've read that the G5 and G9 are palm mice and the lachesis is a finger mouse. I currently have a Razer CopperHead, if I decide to go with either the G5 or G9, will I have a hard time adjusting to the ergonomics of these palm mice? Edit: I've noticed that I hold the CopperHead with most of my hand, not just my fingers. Crazy_Nate Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I have a G5 and love it. I like the shape...and the simplicity. If you're curious if you'll convert well, find a store that has one, and see what it feels like. Compusa or Microcenter should have them (you can probably find out online if they do). GaiusMaxwell Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I have a G9 and abolutely love it, i tried out a bunch of mice inc. 3 razor models, the G5 and G7 ((G7 basically G5 but wireless and no weight controls)) and settled on the G9, although not having as high DPI as some razor models, the G9 is so customizable, weight, grips, sensitivity can all be changed, not too mention that it can store up to 5 different profiles and just silly things like...the LED being able to be changed to a colour you like. I may be biased though, i like palm mice more than finger, i find them more comfortable
damian Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) I recommend the Razer Deathadder has a nice "leather" feel to it, for the high sensitivity gamers, But if your a low sensitivity gamer, you just need about 5 minutes of tweaking with Razer's software. It also fits my large hand well, but thats just me. I suggest you go to your local Fry's, Bestbuy, Circuit City ect, and get the feel of the mice there. nVidia_Freak Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I've owned a G7, and I now use a G5. If you can find one for a decent price, I highly recommend the G7. It's got a decent weight and it performs flawlessly. I had no interference between it and my Linksys wireless router when I had it. If you can't, the G5 is just a wired version of the G7. It comes with weights and a weight cartridge so you can modify the resistance to your liking. Either one will make you happy! xly15 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I like my Mx518. it's basically a G5. I love it to death. I'm going to suggest the Mx518.
sunnyeagle Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I also use MX518 and just got another one that came with my laptop. I use it and do not find the need to have any other. I like the grip and the controls.
nVidia_Freak Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Ah, I forgot about my MX518, it is good too. The only plus I find over it than the G5/7 is that it has a forward button, however, I don't see a huge use for it. The back button is much more useful. The MX518 and G5 both look like they have forward and back buttons or am I wrong about that? sunnyeagle Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Yes, the MX518 does have a forward button. Both are on the thumb side of the mouse, and I like that they are different size. There is no doubt which one you are using.
