damian Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I really like OCC the people here are not immature like other forums, trust me i know i was once a member of gamespot.com and wow the people over there were all just fanboys, trolls, bad mouths, everything, they argue so much they even have a thread called system wars. I was there for about a year until i got banned i tried making another account and they banned me again, so i spent a couple days looking for a new home It was pretty weird i went to yahoo answers and just reading messages and i think thats when i saw someone suggest OCC. I signed up and i have to say i love it, the only thing i do miss from GS is the convince of going to "My post history" instead of having to look for them in the forums. I havnt heard much about DIY/DFI-street it sounds like it really made an impact on you guys wish i knew of it before
Syngensmyth Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I'm not touching that one with a 20' pole... Yes upon closer proof-reading the statement may hold some unintended suggestions. Now I know how Hillary feels ... darn I'm doing it again.
Kamikaze_Badger Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 ...You guys are talking as if DFI-Street was an offical partner of OCC or something. Yeah I've been here a long time too - yeah DFI street was helpful... But this stuff happens - forums die. Honestly, this forum isnt as active as it once was. I think its due to the "stricter" rules we have here to make this place friendly for 11 years and their overclocking moms. I've almost completely stopped posting here several times because of that. The overclocking and ethusiest community has its own persona and culture - One that OCC just doesn't cater too anymore - and Neither did DFI-Street. This is why places like XS and so forth are getting such huge member counts now. Gonna have to put a +1 here. And the strictness died down when mods started breaking the enforced rules themselves. But I won't touch that. But yeah, that's life. I agree that OCC is among the better forums I've been too.
kendellrt Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I think that OCC is better now than it ever has been. We are a serious review site with a great reputation in the enthusiast community. We are one of the top ranked PC review sites on Google. We have a great staff and the forum rules that are in force now simply make us more professional. I am really turned off when I am browsing other forums, or reading reviews on another site and they use terrible grammar mixed in with foul and offensive language. It is simply unprofessional and prevents them from being taken seriously by the community as a whole. I am confident that when someone looks for opinions or reviews on a product that they are interested in, OCC is one of the places that you can refer to as trustworthy and valuable. I won't mention them, but there are many sites within the enthusiast community writing reviews that you cannot put any faith in them for accuracy and unbiased opinions. Kamikaze_Badger Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Yet when issues were pointed out in reviews here, it was a total . storm with Raven and the new guys. Though things have improved, I agree.
kendellrt Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I just don't think that you should bash the forums that you call home. I apologize to the op for the small hijack. I'm finished now.
Kash Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 the only thing i do miss from GS is the convince of going to "My post history" instead of having to look for them in the forums. Click on your name and select Find Member's Topics/Posts. That should give you a list of all of your posts. KB, why would you bring up Raven? He hasn't been around for over six months, that's really old news and has nothing to do with the progress OCC sees today, and definitely has nothing to do with DIY-Street. I actually really like the fact that forum activity has seemingly increased exponentially ever since the merger. I hadn't been posting lately because there was never anything interesting going on, but now we have a lot of active threads and new members to harass..err, I mean interact with. Kamikaze_Badger Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I just don't think that you should bash the forums that you call home. I apologize to the op for the small hijack. I'm finished now. I'm far from bashing them, I'm just agreeing with a disagreement. Bashing them would be more like: "These forums suck, the mods and members are all stuck up dummies" Which in no way applies to OCC. I brought up Raven to support my point, I do agree that they've changed for the better since then. Do I really have a point now? No, not really. PS Nerm, try typing the F word for me. I'll try again: . EDIT And now it's a period instead of crap .

bishop245 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Oh man, you're gonna make me all sad...The "OG's" of OCC... d3 I hear about because of Celtica. I don't think anyone really talks to Matt (LinuxProX) anymore, but I bet he trolls once in a bluemoon. Psywar I've talked to a couple times over the last year or so, and he's doing good. I think OCC is a little too family-friendly for him...That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Posey, I don't remember what happened to him, although I used to know. Oh well, such is life... Can't wait to hear from all these new Streeter's though... Edit: Besides Bosco, am I the longest running "active" poster? What gives? umm you forget me I am still active just not posting much anymore
Kamikaze_Badger Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 In other words, not active in our minds .
