stueck9356 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I had a Gigabyte EX38-DQ6 from newegg, but the CPU_Fan header started acting up (would just simply stop working and would have to turn comp off for an hour to get it to start again) so I RMA'ed the bugger back to the 'egg. Sadly though, they discontinued my motherboard, and now I'm stuck with some nice hardware and no compatible motherboard (dont thing a DFI NF4 expert will run an intel ). I bought the mobo for $270, and I think my limit will be around $300 for a new one. Problem is, I have an untrained eye when it comes to motherboards. Does anyone have any reccommentations as to what to get? Here is the specs on the rest of my system.. Patriot PC2 9600 (DDR2 1200) 4x1gb Intel Q6600 w/ Tuniq Tower 8800GTS G92 512 w/ HR-03GT Corsair 620HX Last note, I use RAID-0 . Thanks to anyone who can assist me in my time of pain . wevsspot Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 How about the GB GA-EX38-DS4? I've got the regular "X" version of that board and it is outstanding.

SuppA-SnipA Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 try the p35-ds3r, altho that doesnt have PCI-E 2.0, which im sure u'd want if u had the ex38
stueck9356 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 (edited) well cards aren't really taking full advantage of PCI-E 2.0 yet, there is practically no difference between 1.1 and 2.0 right now. I'm thinking betwen the Asus Rampage Formula and the GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS4. Edited May 29, 2008 by Snugg
damian Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 You have a pretty high budget for a motherboard, either way these are pretty good Asus Rampage Formula - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131284 DFI Lanparty DK X48 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813136047 DFI Lanparty DK P35 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813136043
stueck9356 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 How would you rate the DFI LP LT X48-T2R? I put in a few specs into newegg and it was seemingly high on the list. Anandtech rates it to be fairly high and the egg's reviews are all 5 star. Although it is only DDR2 800, I'm sure that it can come close to 1000 or 1200Mhz, and if not, I can just under clock my ram and tighten up the timings. The northbridge HS looks a little tricky, but if I place my Tuniq horizontally and have my HR-03 wrap around behind the GPU (which, my Tuniq was horizontally and my HR-03 is mounted in the wrap-around position) then the NB will get a sort of push-pull sitting between the two. Plus I have a 120mm S-Flex fan hanging in my 5.5" bays that can blow onto the NB as well (or I can just get a stupid fan for it ). stueck9356 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I bought the Rampage.. Looks like its gonna be a lotta fun. Now, I'll have to re-overclock my CPU, correct? Or rather re-stress test it to make sure that it is stable on my new motherboard? Thanks to everyone who helped me out!!
