savethedodobird Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 To my understanding the a7n8x mobo unlocks the cpu.
Overclocker16 Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 I think the A7N8X Deluxe only unlock T-Breds.
andrusk Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 it should unlock all of the xps. Besides the tbreds arent all that different compared the bartons, the barton is basically a tbred with a faster fsb and a bigger cache. So it is my understanding that it should work. I guess youll let us know.
Overclocker16 Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 I know. But the core designs are different...
DevilMB3017 Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 The A7N8X unlocks Tbred B's. I'm not sure about the Barton, but I dont think so.
AMDOCuser Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 The tbred Bs are already unlocked, the A7N8X just allows you to change the multipliers, but it doesn't automatically unlock them for you. And the Bartons aren't already unlocked, I had to do the wire trick on mine in order to unlock the lower multipliers.
Overclocker16 Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 And again.... NO AMD CPU is unlocked for the shop. None, nada, not 1. You have to do it yourself, or the A7N8X will do it for you.
mxrider623 Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 All the nForce 2 boards are supposed to unlock them. I also heard that the KT400 boards do it as well but I have never actually heard of anyone that it does it on.
AMDOCuser Posted May 20, 2003 Posted May 20, 2003 (edited) OK, now read my sig. I have the A7N8X and it did not unlock any multiplier, untill I did the wire trick on the barton CPU. If you don't know what the wire trick is click here. It didn't do it to my Duron either. As far as I know it the tbred-B are the oly CPUs that come with their multipliers unlocked. But so far with the Asus A7N8X it does not unlock any multipliers. So the only way you can actually change any multiplier with this mobo is if the CPU comes unlocked or you alter the CPU so you can change the multiplier. ------------------------------------------ OK, maybe the Epox mobo unlocks the multiplier in CPUs, or some other Nforce2 mobo, I don't know. But find out for sure from someone who has the mobo. Edited May 20, 2003 by AMDOCuser
andrusk Posted May 20, 2003 Posted May 20, 2003 And again there are no cpus that come unlocked from the factory, and the a7n8x does unlock them for you. There are many people here who have changed the multi. and had it work, we know what we're talking about. It works.
