Mist Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 Ok heres my prob I have an athlon xp 2000 and i have been trying to oc it. Now my board is a k7n cr18d pro and while it isnt the greatest it gets the job done. After fooling with the fsb for a while i went to change my core voltage to stabilze it and noticed a feature that hadnt been there b4. Oddly enough it was the cpu ratio and after a few secs i reset my settings to test it out. Now after starting my comp again my cpu read as an athlon xp 2100 and a continued changing the fsba few more times to see how high i could go. Eventually i tried the 13.5 ratio and rebooted getting it to read my cpu as a 2200 but it crashed b4 starting windows. Now i have yet to see the cpu ratio it appears aevery once in awhile in my bios so i want to update it and hopefully fix the problem. I consulted my manual to make sure it wasnt a setting that was wrong but it said nothing. After visiting leadtek I got the new bios and made my flppy and was on my way. Heres the site http://www.leadtek.com.tw/motherboard/winf...r18dpro_1.shtml . Now for some reasont he copy command wont work in dos and I cannot move the file into another dir. Seeing how the idiots didnt design the bios to be updated from the floppy i cannot update it. Any ideas as to what i might be doing wrong? Ohh and dont say this is in another post i have done some checkin and did not find it so if i missed it srry.
Mercury Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 wow... thats odd is there any circumstance that is present every time the setting is either enabled or not? this is very interesting
Mist Posted May 14, 2003 Posted May 14, 2003 (edited) No i can reset the bios and it may not show up and i can just keep restarting and it may popup. By the wat it is award. I finally figured out how to update the bios and no thx to leadtek cause I truly believe that they cannot read or write english correctly. I still do not get the cpu ratio all the time but it is a little more stable. Or was after three boots. Now when i try to overclock it just one mhz faster on the fsb or knock the multiplier up point 5 i get a long beep after another. I can run at stick settings and that is all. I checked the bios and it is fine so what is happening it is starting to piss me off. I thought updating the bios would help it not make it worse.
