Watercooling

Recommended Posts

i'm looking to upgrade my liquid cooling system i have been using an evercool wc 202 for the last couple of years. it worked great on my 3.4gb P4 oc'ed to 3.8 but just isn't able to cool my Q6600 and 2 8800 gts' cards

i have zalman full cover blocks on the vid cards and was just curios what you guys thought would make the best pump and cpu block and rad combos

i'd like to stay in the range of $150 to $200

all sugestions welcome

EK Supreme OR DTek Fuzion ~$60

Laing D5 Basic/Fixed 12V ~$75

Swiftech MCR320 ~$60

Total $195

You'd need a few more dollars for tubing/clamps, and fans if needed...

I personally do not like the Zalman H2O products since they use aluminum in the tops, which can lead to corrosion issues.

For a pump I'd recommend the LIANG D5 (aka Swiftech MCP-655) or the LIANG DDC with the Petra's Tech top.

In terms of CPU blocks, the D-Tek /fuzion is currently the best block on the market.

Radiatorwise: even with a 360mm radiator, you may not quite have enough to handle a Quad as well as 2 GPUs; so at the very least get a 360mm.

Hey Rado, maybe it is just me, but that sentence is making no sense.

Maybe I should have phrased it differently:

Radiatorwise: I'd at the very least get a 360mm, but to handle a Quad as well as 2 GPUs you may need to go with 2 rads as I'm not 100% certain than even a 360mm rad would handle that load.

:withstupid: A Quad OCed and 1-2900xt was pushing the limits on my rig with 1-360mm rad

Why else would I be using 2 360mm radiators on my rig ;) Got 1 rad for the CPU, NB, and SB and the other rad for my SLIed 8800GTXs

I agree, when I redone the water cooling I also made 2 loops. One for the Quad and Northbridge, the other for 2-2900s when I had them on my rig both with 360mm radiators...

I've actually got it in a single loop: pump>CPU>SB>NB>RAD1>GPU1>GPU2>RAD2>T-Line>pump

because you didn't have to pay for them

it was only the blocks that I got for free; the Pump and Rads I got for about half off ;)

That was much better.

How about a 240 rad for the CPU and one 360 for the 2 vid cards? Might be easier to fit.
