exeter_acres Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 Old timer here!! and yes I have owned a 486!!! and a 386! I can' quite remember if you can or not... I don't remember if the BIOS allowed it. I don't think they did. but heck have at it... if it doesn't work, pitch it!
mandrake Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 i aint old (15) but i have about 10 486s and i have seen several that can be overclocked by jumpers right on the motherboard. Confusing, but if you find the right jumpers, you can OC them. not worth it for the 20mhz or so gain you'd get. I've also seen jumpers on a p1 mobo which allows you to OC. (ahh, back when intel didnt lock the multiplier) hope this helps.
bishop245 Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 i have an old pentium mmx that i was able to bump up a little in the bios and more i am sure with jumpers or dipswitches if i ever get entusiastic and find out the actual mobo and a manual for it lol
