zorton Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 Hello... I'm building my first machine and have a CPU fan that will be controlled by the sensor mounted on the bottom of the CPU. I also have a case temp read-out with a similar sensor. The instructions say to attach the sensors with the "heat proved tape". What I don't see is how the wires are run out between the CPU and the seat. Do you just run them between random pins? Also the wires seem to be thick enough that the CPU would not seat properly. Any experience with this or any thoughts? I really don't want to snap the processor because of a couple of wires in the wrong place. Info: AMD Athlon/Asus M/B Thanks... Propane Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 thats a good question. What ive thought is just to put it on top of the dye instead of underneath but it might be more accurate underneath

Ghost2520 Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 I am pretty sure the die is the little 1cmx1cm silver thing in the center(if it is an AMD processor). How thick are the wires? I would think that they would go on the die/processor core, but I have never done this before, although I want to very soon. hiph0pan0nym0usx Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 DO NOT put it on the die. u can either put the sensor next to the die, or under the cpu. if u want to put it under, run the wire between the pins. as long as the wires arent thick that will work fine. (thats what i do with mine)
zorton Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 DO NOT put it on the die. u can either put the sensor next to the die, or under the cpu. if u want to put it under, yes, run the wire between the pins. as long as the wires arent think that will work fine. (thats what i do with mine) I'm sorry I don't have all the nomemclature down, as I said, I'm really new at this. The "thing" I have in my hand is a 2x2 brown square with a 3/4x1/2 raised black center. I am looking at the top, I presume. You guys are saying to put one sensor on the brown surface on each side of the black center piece. Then put the HSF on top of the whole thing. Is this the general idea? Thanks and sorry for the newbishness Mike btw...sensor looks like this--> [iiiiiiiiii]-------- and is about as thick as a piece of paper
hiph0pan0nym0usx Posted May 12, 2003 Posted May 12, 2003 the brown thing in your hand is the "cpu" or "proccessor". the black center is the "die". put the censor either under the cpu (put the wires through the pins, ,or put it on the cpu next to the die. ex: the red is an example of where you could put the censor
