Vaelen2001 Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I have a household computer using a Linksys 802.11N wireless usb device that connects to my 802.11N router. I'm only going through 1 thin hollow wall in the house and my strength is good but consistent connectivity is sketchy at best. Router has most recent firmware on it and the PC with the wireless usb device is using the most recent software from Linksys, but I don't get consistent connectivity, it will, quite often, disconnect and reconnect itself. Please help me get my router and usb point to stay connected consistently for long periods of time. Your networking knowledge is appreciated. Thank you! --Vaelen2001
Crow47 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I've often had horrible issues with USB wireless devices. I've never known one to work correctly. My guess would be because they have a small antenna, but I really don't know. My main point of advice would be to try and ditch the USB receiver and get a pci one. I've also heard that something metal like a clothes hanger can help when positioned correctly near the device as to act like an antenna.
