Gr4vitas Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Title says it. Are these headphones any good? I'm looking for some headphones that are going to rock my dome. Hefty base and nice sound quality for gaming / music. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826235003 Also if anyone has some suggestions besides these headphones or some good ones I should check out / good company to look at please let me know! :thumbs-up:
Waco Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I've heard they sound decent but they are cheaply made. In the same price range you can get the Turtle Beach HPA-2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826502008 EDIT: These look to be the roughly same headphones without the amplifier (if you have a beefy sound card you may not need it): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826502007

They look pretty nice. Thanks! :thumbs-up:
Waco Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I'm 100% satisfied with mine. They're comfortable overall but if you have large ears like me they do rub a tiny bit after hours and hours of use (think 9+ hour gaming sessions). Note that they do require an AC power plug to function.

Waco Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Aye, is having the AC power plug a pain? Not really. The cord is long enough to not be a bother (it plugs into the dongle that connects to your sound card) but having an extra brick to plug in can be an issue sometimes. I don't move my desktop often enough for it to bother me...and I can say that I have to plug my headphones in. That, and not having to rely on a soundcard to drive the speakers is nice. The amp has more than enough power to damage your hearing.

I think you'll be happy with the dual subwoofers...they'll literally shake your brain. In terms of audible bass they drop off pretty quickly at about 30 Hz or so. Not bad by any means, but not stellar either. For normal music you'll never notice it though since normal music rarely digs below 40 Hz.
