although it seems that there have been problems with the a7n8x, i would just like to point out that the people having problems on that linked page we were refered to were using the a7v8x board. i read though these all the way to the end. the very last post had a solution to the a7v8x problems and i'll paste it here.

"Finally...

Well, I got bored of trying some of the possible solutions (no, I didn't try increasing the AGP voltage, nor did I try most of the more "unusual" methods of getting my card to work, but hey, that's just me) so I went and bought an ASUSTeK A7N8X, and guess what? It works perfectly, with everything. I didn't change the PSU, I didn't RMA my 9700 Pro, nor did I didn't tweak anything in the BIOS (other than the graphics aperture size, which is now at 128 MB). I reinstalled Windows 2000 without any problems whatsoever, SP3 installed perfectly too and so did the drivers. Everything works, including Maya and anything made with Macromedia Shockwave. I can only conclude that there is an incompatibility between the ASUSTeK A7V8X (no, I don't think it's the KT400's fault) and my 9700 Pro Revision 1.0. Anyway, thanks for everything. I've got to make up all the time that I've lost."

it seems from this forum, that the asus a7v8x is the one that is having a nice amount of problems. can't really tell too much about the a7n8x. we do know that it is possible for an ati card and the a7n8x to co-exist on the same system though. don't know how likely though, or the chances of coming up with an incompatibility issue, but it is nice to see that this combination worked for somebody. :)

I used both a7v8x and the a7n8x with my ati 9500 pro card

no complaints here with the asus and the ati

its just ati cards have bad driver support game wise

so dont worry about compatibility issues its all good there :)

i just higly recommend the geforce 4 t i4600 or 4200 ti there both very good cards and you get plenty bang for the buck unlike ati :(
