Coolit Freezone...anyone Have One?

I just bought a brand new CoolIT Freezone on ebay ridiculously cheap...like 70% cheaper than retail. I am still using the stock intel quad-core cooler right now and i needed a replacement because i don't like how high the temperature is getting.

Before i bought the CoolIT, i bought a Thermaltake Big Typhoon that i am considering returning.

My question is...does anyone have/used/still use the Freezone and what are some issues that you ran into?

I have an Antec 900 case as well, so i don't think room will be an issue.

Thank you!

It will cool a lot better then the big typhoon POS at full tilt, but being only a series of 72watt tecs cooling the liquid from on a hot overclocked quad core the temps will not be steller - maybe similar to a higher end custom WC setup. It will be better then air though, and if you got it for anything much under 100 bucks it would not be a bad deal. It wont make any records, but it is a better approach then the premade TEC coolers which attempt to direct cool the CPU with a weak little ~80 watt tec. Just do not run it on low...it sucks.

If you can mod a res into the loop and replace the 92mm with a 120 performance should increase. I sure wouldnt pay retail for it, but for a very low price I would consider one just to play with and mod to find its potential.

Thermaltake Big Typhoon that i am considering returning

For the love of all that's holy, do it :P

I've heard mixed things about the Freezone, but on the whole reviews seem good, provided it's run at max, it competes with high-end water.\

Edit: Argh, puck :P

I was about to say that you should get temps in the teens, but you already know that. just make sure that for like the first week keep an eye on it because I read some reviews that some of them leak near the cpu block, so just keep an eye on it and check the hoses 2-3 times a day for about a week. just a though ;)

just got it, installed it, and my idle temperatures are around 17 Degrees Celcius. I'd say it was very worth it.

FYI for anyone looking to get one!

Idle is nothing, what is overclocked to around 3.6Ghz or more and full load with prime 95 25.6 small ftts?

When i get home from work i will give the real results. Right now it is idling at 2.7ghz with a Q6660. I did not overclock more because i was on Stock Intel Cooling Fan, and it was getting way to hot already. I will post pics with temperatures idle and under load tonight

Did you ever run the tests to see how well your cooler did under load?

The big typhoon is not that bad if you do away with the push pins and bolt it solid, I done that and put an 88cfm yate loon on it and its running a quad at 3.6Ghz 1.45 actual vcore after droop and its running 58-60c open on a table. With the no pressure mounting push pins and stock fan it was running 62-65c at 3.2Ghz... :P
